SIP trunking from a carrier is support by some carriers, ATT and Verizon at least, on the BCM450. Requires SIP licenses on the BCM 450 as well as configuration as specified by the carrier. ATT and Verizon both have documented the configuration needed by their service.

Both of these features are keycode activated. You would need to contact your Nortel vendor to purchase the keycodes. Both features require a license for each mailbox with that feature. You will also need to purchase keycodes to "speech activate" some number of CallPilot ports.
If the BCM 50 R2 is a 50E or 50A it will have a router built in that can act as a VPN appliance. You would not need a 1010 unless you need more tunnels than the 50 can support, 10 I think.
CallPilot has a bulk add feature that uses a text file to input mailbox users. If you could export the information from the Octel to a text file, you may be able to use it to create users on CallPilot.

BCM 50 2.0 includes new router hardware. Upgrading a BCM 50 1.0 to 2.0 software does not add the new router functionality as this requires the new router hardware.
