Just bought a new compact flash card (1GB) for my acrchiving on Option 11C system and when I format with Windows XP SP2, Meridian 1 does not recognize it. Someone said to use Windows 98, but I don't have that. Is there a nortel utility or any other way?

Thanks in advance
George

Windows 2000 and Windows XP Manual Process:

DO NOT FORMAT PCMCIA CARD. If your card is not blank, erase files but do not format the card. Formatting with Win2000 or WinXP will cause the PCMCIA Card to be incompatible with your switch. Next create a new folder on your PC desktop. Download the software required (executable file) to this folder. Double click on the file to expand the executable into separate folders and files. Copy these files to your PCMCIA drive, using either DOS shell or Windows Explorer.

If you have formatted the card using these operating systems, the incompatible card can be corrected and used by programming with the Card Programmer Tool.

The Card Programmer Tool is availible on the Nortel web site. Look under Support and Training/Support/Software Downloads Open up the CS 1000 product and look in the "Tools" tab.

I have also heard that you can put it in a digital camara and use the format program in it.

You must format the card with win9x or the switch will not recognise the card ..do not use nt/win2k/xp

cards on Rls 24 and earlier can only use 48Meg Card and Rls, 25.08 and higher can use up to a 64 Meg Card.
if you get Type II ATA flash cards, they are usually already formatted
