    Blue Screen

Maybe the "windows repair" did the trick that gbaughma suggested right before he said "solution". Jim

Can anyone help identify this type of wiring block?

Ed, I worked for Western Electric and ran a lot of 500MCM and also 750MCM. Those were the good old days. We called the lacing tool a "sewing needle." We sewed everything and made it neat. Crossbar racks didn't require horizontal sewing, however. Jim

Can you interview at the drop of a hat?

I've run into the old "overqualified" excuse. Once they find out the salary you have been making you are put in the "overqualified" category and they won't hire you. Jim

I use Everything Search. It's the best one I've ever used and it's free. Jim

    Can't Repair XP

This may be futile, but can you get into safe mode? If you can, try to restore to a previous restore point. Jim

USB Flash Drive Light and Eject

I have the same issue. It works on XP but the light stays on with Vista and Windows 7. I do get the "safe to eject" message on Vista and 7 but the light stays on. I'm glad you posted this. I have been wondering if anybody else had the same situation. Jim

Extending a demarc to server room - need help

In my day we used ABAM cable for T1. Transmit and Receive had to be in separate cables. The foil shield was grounded on one end only. Grounding both ends caused current flow and induced noise. Just a bit of trivia from long ago. ;) Jim

Nothing shows on screen with a GeForce GTX 560

Isn't there one PCI-E six-pin connector coming from your power supply that you aren't using? Use that and the y connector for the other one and you're all set. If you don't have an unused one then you'll need another y connector. Jim

Any Good Opinions of Windows 8 To Date?

Pokki start menu is a simple free one that I use. It brings back the start menu and I'm happy with it. Jim

    Does Microsoft call you?

I got the same scam twice. The second one I got I decided to have a little fun with the poor Indian call center employee. He finally realized I was on to him and cursed me out. LOL This is an old scam that has been around for years. If you fall for it and pay them to "clean" your computer you...
