I am working with a site that is migrating Lotus Notes users to Exchange 2000. The issue is that most of the users have Local Notes archive files (filename.nsf) on their personal PC's.

I agree this looks like a DNS issue. First are you using AD version of DNS or Bind Version or some type of combination of both. If using AD version is it Active directory enabled. Are all your clients using same DNS.

First have you done any testing using telnet port 25 going directly to your exchange servers ip address doing the normal ehlo handshake type things.

When you right click on user and select Exchange task you need to select create Mailbox then it will ask you for storage group and IS information. This will set user up so they can log on to Exchnage
