    NIM SERVER AT HOT SITE

Yes, if you are not at the server then use NIM for your partitioned environment.

    Password applied to a folder

If it was a third-party encryption program that was downloaded from say webattack.com, and the directory was encrypted, then removing the software and the registry entries are not going to "unlock" the directory. The only way is to restore from a backup that was made before the...

SP nodes related to a CWS

You can run from the CWS: dsh lslpp -L | grep -i db2 and not have to log into each node. This will show if the DB2 software is installed. The db2as is the administrative server instance and the db2fenc1 and db2inst1 are standard instances which were created when the software was installed...

SP nodes related to a CWS

They are for DB2, but how does that relate to SP nodes? Run spmon -d from the CWS and you will see all nodes.

    Interesting Job Requirements

Probably had to charge more, if not for transportation costs, then it might have been due to traffic volume. Whereas the larger city may get a traffic count of say, 1000 vehicles a day, the smaller town may only get a count of say, 100 vehicles. This has a lesser chance of someone stopping, thus...

XlCentry problem with AIX C++ compiler

I got the error a year+ ago and tracked down what it was but unfortunately I don't recall. If I remember I'll post it.

How can I login RS6000 machine with serial port?

If you are on an SP system and the host responds, then you should be able to open an s1term (or spmon) to the node. The only way you wouldn't be able to login is that the tcp subsystem hasn't started (or you have paging problems, etc). I would power off the node and then from the CWS I would...

    AIX 4.3.2 verses 5.1

What are you trying to do? I get no errors running a cd from the for loop.

Is MS security REALLY THAT bad Compared to Open S?

Applications cause most of the security holes. But Windows is less secure as an OS than Unix, even without apps installed, because of things like internet explorer being integrated into Windows which has more holes than swiss cheese. Windows is so bloated there is no way to audit each line of...

    kerberos user authenticaion.

Looking at your original post, I didn't even realize you could add a user specifying loadable modules. However, it doesn't appear from you klist that your user was added to the authentication database. Try using the kerberos kadmin command to add a new user.

    kerberos user authenticaion.

Does your client have the /etc/krb-srvtab, krb.conf and krb.realms files along with a /.k5login? When you listed the klist where is the new principal you added?

    PC redux

Don't even start on the ACLU defending the Bill of Rights. Nothing could be further from the truth. They are a group of extreme liberal anti-American trash who only are a wrench in the justice system. They want to stop Marines from bowing their heads in a ceremony recognizing the birth of the...

    PC redux

Absurdity. British Airways removed the British flag from the tail of their planes flying into a country so it would not offend them. Oh gee, I certainly offended someone by calling their country irrational in thought! Affirmative action, political correctness, it can all be flushed down the...

    PC redux

PC has become absurd. A high school girl, after seeing mexican clubs, black clubs, italian clubs, chess clubs, fat clubs, bow-tie clubs, blonde clubs, etc, wanted to start a white club at school - since there was already 23 others. Guess what! She ended up transferring to another school...

    Professional Certifications

Studies have shown that when baby-boomers start retiring, because of the lack of the current generations education, that pay will be at a premium for the highly-skilled and educated professional. Again, the gap will widen between the haves and have-nots. Thus causing the have-nots to want more...
