I started noticing these logon failures in my security logs with strange characters in Logon Process. The server is a domain controller. The error occurs more than once and the entries are not consecutive. Also, the characters are not the same in any of the entries.
Has any seen this before...
If the name of your server is webmail, this will work. Otherwise you can connect using servername.yourdomain.local. If you want to use this address you will need to create a record on your internal DNS server to point webmail.sms.local to the internal IP address.
Externaly, you can connect...
I found the problem. The default NTFS permissions were changed for security reasons. I needed to give IUSR_Machine read and execute access to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET. Now things are working fine.
I get the following error when I try to access a .aspx file.

Check to make sure you have a recipient policy created for your domain. Also, check to see if the Recipient Policy Service is Running. You can look at both of these in the exchange system manager under Recipients.
Are you using NAT where the server has a private IP or is the server using a public IP address? If you are using NAT, you will need to forward port 443 to the ip of your server in order to access it from over the internet. You can try to access it using http://servername/exchange or try...
