    read NTFS from DOS

Unfortunately I think I am not stating my question in such a way as to invoke the right answer. I don't mean can you copy it to a disk or run the command from the command line, I mean "can you type a command like 'copy' or 'cd' or anything like that". from what I see of this program...

    read NTFS from DOS

I'm not sure you understood my question......I know the free version can only "read" and I know that I have partition size limitations. What I am looking for is a DOS COMMAND LINE VERSION. NO GUI NO "WINDOWS" NO MENUS just white letters on a black screen with a c:> prompt.

resource kit supp 3 includes a program called DISKPART.EXE that can extend volume capacity on a raid 5 array. If you have another drive bay you can expand the array at the hardware level and then expand the "nt" volume. The MS recommendations say to use this for data volumes but it...

    Profile problem

If that c:\winnt\desktop was a setting in you policies at one time it will remain in that users profile until you create them a new one even if you remove the setting from the policies. You need to tell the policies what the "real" value should be, let that take affect and then tell...

stopping users from placing items on the desktop

Just to be sure. When you say mandatory profiles you do mean renaming ntuser.dat to ntuser.man right. You can use your policies to set a profile limit. If you set the limit (just over the size of the profile. As soon as they put a few on the desktop they will get a message that you create and...

Automate adding to Local Admin Group.

Do you use imaging? If you do, you can add the group before you deploy the wks by doing it in the image. The group will appear as unknown until the workstation is added to the domain then it will understand the sid of the account and become a valid group again.

Force NT 4 Wkst to be authenticated by specific DC?

You can force a wks to authenticate to any specified DC. Use setprfdc.exe from the nt resource kit. I beleive that it started shipping with Service pak 6 also. after the initial logon you can run this command and every subsequent logon (without a restart) will authenticate to the specified...

Global setting to move Temporary Internet Files

You should use system policies. When you make the redirect in the hkey current users hive it will be loaded into every users (that you apply the policy to) profile as part of their ntuser.dat file. I have succesfully re-directed the temp files, cookies, history etc for thousands of users.
