Info Views from Sgate 7.5 - CE 9 Quick Question

Since you haven't really started the migration process yet, you might consider going to CE10. We love the new business views technology which is very similar to InfoViews only better. Unfortunately they haven't provided any migration tools -- go we had to migration by hand.

Crystal Enterprise Parameter Page for Reports Not Running

Do regular non-parameter reports work? From the CE box, go into CR and make sure the report runs. I would also try a reboot. Perhaps there's something else amiss.

Ad Hoc Prompting for Database Logon

Is it possible that you are running out of database connections? We had an issue that whereby we had plenty of CE licenses, but not enough database licenses because Crystal was keeping the database sessions open longer than we expected... (as long as 20 minutes!) You might want to monitor...

    crystal web servers

ePortfolio is a pretty good general interface for end-users. Crystal also provides some other examples from their "launchpad" but these don't have the full functionality that is really needed. The only glaring thing missing from ePortfolio is the ability to reschedule a previously...

    Switching from Actuate...

I would like to know if there is anyone out there that has switched from Actuate to Crystal Enterprise and how your experience has been. Although we have some expertise in Actuate, we are getting pressure to implement Crystal which also exists within our company and which many people find easy...

    newbie review and questions

You might want to have to vendors come in and do a proof-of-concept to showcase the flexibility of Actuate. Let the business users pick a couple of reports and do a bake off. Let the vendors come in and do some work. The fact that you already own Actuate may or may not prove to be the...

    SQL Query

Have you considered displaying Col_A in a subreport? I'm not sure I understand the scope of everything you are trying to do... what do you mean a sql query on a "field", do you mean the entire report is a single column of values? Depending on the database, sometimes you can select...

Email Distribution w/Link to a Report

I'm pretty sure this feature is included in the new CE 9 version which has released.

    Parameter lists

I suggest you build the parameters pages using .csp or .asp. Then one you have the responses from the end-user, pass these to the crystal report, either via form variables OR the url.

Running a report from command line

HEre's some sample code - it's pretty straightforward. I'm grabbing the name of the report as the first argument. <job id='CommandLineScheduling'> <script language='VBScript'> Option Explicit Const USERNAME = &quot;username&quot; Const PASSWORD = &quot;password&quot; Const APS =...

Looking for reviews of Crystal Enterprise 8.5/Crystal Analysis

CE 8.5 is certainly a lot closer to SI 7 than CE 8.0 was. You have a lot of nice scheduling capabilities and automatic output formatting and printing to destination. The &quot;Select Expert&quot; is gone from the ActiveX viewer, which we use a lot, so that's frustrating, however their CE...

print a color report in Black &amp; White??

The only way to do this is to create a b&w graph AND a color graph and when the user views the report you ask them if they want to see it in B&W or in color, then hide the appropriate section so they only see the graph they want.

Why can't I display csp in a browser?

Since you CAN get a report to display, that tells me that the .rpt extension is registered properly. You need to register the other extensions the same way. The extensions to register are: .csp .cri .cwr .shtx

One parameter or all of the above?

Why don't you take the &quot; All POs&quot; out of the case statement altogether... then if you pick &quot;all&quot;, the field won't even need to be evaluated. The other thing I do a lot is use &quot;like&quot; and pass in the parameter &quot;*&quot; (and alias it to &quot; All POs&quot;).

Scheduling .exe files in CR Ent 8 Standard

In order to schedule a .exe you'll have to use NT scheduling. CE only allows for the hosting of .rpt files. I believe the next version will be supporting event scheduling, so in that version you may be able to say, &quot;when this event happens&quot; run this .exe.... but the .exe won't be...

month to date and year to date using the distributeing expert

Agree with the parameter option. If you don't know how to create parameters then RTFM. Make sure when you create the parameter, that you set the data type to date.
