I think I found the problem. One of the reports in the import had a bogus connection string, and I think it was crashing the servers, which then restarted automatically when the import completed.
You can, but I don't. I have one of each on each server (8.5 and XI)
So far in my testing, I have determined that the import works ok as long as I don't try to transfer saved or scheduled instances along with the report. (which is basically useless for us, since I need those schedules badly)
I am having problems with the import wizard from CE85 to BOEXI. I am trying to import everything from 8.5 and I get a lot of failed transfers. Most of the error mesages say that the File Repository Server Output (or Input) is down. I check on both machines and they are both running these...
I am installing Business Object XI on a Win2k3 server with IIS and .NET 1.1.
Problem is during the installation I am only given the option of installing the Tomcat web server, and not the IIS. IIS is grayed out.
Anyone ever seen this?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that CD is basically screwing us over by removing some of these (IMO) critical features. I already asked this question to CD tech support, and I was essentially told to buy Instance Manager from APOS. Quite an "upgrade" from SI, no? No.
If for some reason you have to have the field present, (for instance, its has a variable in it), what I do it make the font color white. Boom, its gone.
We are in the middle of a SI75 to CE85 migration, and for the most part is works well. The only major problems I had are the facts that the recurring reports do not migrate, so you have to manually reschedule anything that was scheduled to run automatically. Also the security is basically...
I have the same problem. Our financial reports take a couple hours each and if I run one with a bad parameter, I just have to "wait it out". I can't believe CD's reponse is that is how it is supposed to work.
I can attest to this. Just installed SP4 on my CE8.5 box and no problems. Just make sure you stop everything before you start the install. Accepted all the defaults.
