Update for MSDE installed with CE?

MS statest that any instances of MSDE installed by a 3rd party application must be upgraded with a service pack provided by the application vendor.

Has anyone patched MSDE for CE85 successfully without SP from Crystal Decisions?

The MSDE version that installs with CE is SQL Server 7. If you have not already updated the SP to SP4, then do so. There is also an update to SP4 on the MS site. Crystal Decisions does not provide SP for other vendor products.

I updated the MSDE at a client cite site with no prob by downloading SP4 from MS, stopping the APS, installing the SP, and restarting the APS.

Greetings! I have also applied the SP4 to the MSDE on CE without any incidents. Make sure that you take a look at the readme file before starting the upgrade; this will safe wasted time and frustrations.

I can attest to this. Just installed SP4 on my CE8.5 box and no problems. Just make sure you stop everything before you start the install. Accepted all the defaults.

Please make sure that you do not select NT Authentication only option during the SP install.

APS uses SQL Authentication.
