You have to provide a bit more information. You need to narrow it down to either the Fiber-Channel Card, or the Array that resides on the FastT. If you log into the FastT through the management GUI, then you can at least eliminate the possibility of it being on the SAN. Once you have ruled...
Once you remove the hdisks, and the dar then the dacs, run cfgmgr. Next try to import the volume group. If you can remember which VG is on a disk then try to import the VG.
It’s best to gout to IBM’s website to pull down the latest PTF’s. Yes, you can back out of maintenance levels If you only APPLY the changes and not COMMIT. You may want to try to run an alternate install. This will allow you to clone your rootvg and apply the changes to the copy and keep the...
We have experience some issues with the P610 SCSI disks. Check to make sure you have this FRU number 09P4447 and ROS ID at 43353042. We had all of our SCSI disks replaced.
Do you have a /usr/local directory in your current environment? If you don’t this is the cause of your problem. When you move to AIX 5.1 it uses /usr/local as a working directory. /usr/local cannot be a link either. Let me know….Vantandem

We have started using AIX 5L and so far we have not had any issues, but then again we are just in development phase. I would have to say no regarding your question with Micro channel servers. AIX 5L is geared more for the newer servers. It takes advantage of hot swappable cards, and...
When turning on fast-write cache, you have to make any file-systems assigned to those adapters are un-mounted, then make sure that you vary-off and volume groups that are assigned to those adapters (disks). Basically before you can turn fast-write on you have to make sure nothing has a lock on...

We have had similar issues with users and root access, though fortunately for us we have not ran into this issue. What I can suggest is a product called Power Broker. PowerBroker will help to reduce security administration, risks, and audit difficulties inherent on Unix systems and will...
