I have the exact same problem right now. I bought and activated 25 CAL's from a reseller with Microsoft and the total amount of licenses installed is 25, but the max authorizes is 6. I am trying to find a solution on the web almost everywhere but it looks like nobody ever had this issue ;)
I got three computers that have the same problem, they are all Windows XP (I don't have that problem with Windows 2000) and they all do log on to a Windows 2000 Server domain.
My problem is that when the computer stars, after having entered the login informations in order to be logged onto the...
Hi, I got a problem here...
I am configuring a computer with a modem but Windows asks me to compose the phone number so the modem can just "open" the connection then "talk" with the remote modem.
This is the first time I see a problem like this one and I have searched...
I got a client running Windows 2000 Professional on an IBM desktop system and he is experiencing, since like two weeks, extremely slow computer boot. He timed it to 22 minutes !
It seems to happen only when the computer is cooled down (so when he enters the shop to work in the morning).
I...
Like I said, I noticed the jumper set to CMOS CLEAR and I have replaced it on CMOS NORMAL. That is not the problem.
Also, the CPU is Onboard, so there is no way to replace it and by that way there is no way to set the FSB or RAM speed since it does only support PC2100. The motherboad came with...
Hi, I got a problem here...
I have an IBM that the mainboard used to burn (!) and I needed to change it. Now, I used a PCChips M810DLU (Duron 2000+ Onboard) but I am unable to get the computer booted up. I changed the power supply, I changed the RAM, I changed the power cable and I changed the...
I got my problem solved by having him to log on to his computer using the domain login, altough, the computer doesn't find the domain but that is okay.
I should consider a IPSec-protected VPN in the future.

Well I won't be able to make him install VNC on his computer because he is far far away from me and he needs his profile... like right now!
Thanks, Frank.
Hi, I got a client that is currently in Orlando and I want him to access his DOMAIN profile (at work) when he is NOT connected onto his Domain. He currently connects to his own computer using Administrator login and I am unable to go where he is (1000 KM away...!) to solve his problems...
Is...
If you do so, the password will change within the Windows 98 computer only and not into your domain.
Go to your server, open your user properties, then go to Account. Down there is a Checkbox named: User needs to change password at next logon. Check it and relog in with your Win98 computer...
Like I said, the user has full rights onto that share.
/Files <-- Everyone: Full Access
/Files/Local/User2k <- Users2000: Full Access
/Files/Profiles/User2k <- Users2000: Full Access
I am still unable to create a folder.
Thanks, Frank.
I am able to share, but I am unable to have a client (Users2000) on a machine to create a directory on a shared folder. The user has Full rights and the account Everyone and Domain Users are not listed on the Security Tab.
Thanks, Frank.
You will either have to make their account "Password outdated" or change them manually. Also, think about upgrading the Windows 9x computers to Windows XP.

QUOTE: Can anyone else at the other building log onto the domain? If not, the routers on the DSL connection might not be routing all protocols and ports that a Windows domain needs to work.
ANSWER: Yes, all the PC's into that building have an access...
Hi, I got some kind of weird problem. Here's the details:
I got one company, two independant buildings into two different cities. The network between them is assured by a fast private ISDN connection.
I got a MacOS X user that, into the main building (where all the servers are), let's say...
Hi, I got a network composed of 6 computers. I got 1 Brother MFC that has been shared. Into that MFC, there is a Fax so the computer(s) are able to send faxes.

But even with that document, I have never been able to make a scheduled backup working. Though, if I run it...
Hi, I got that problem on my Windows NT 4.0 Server and I am now unable to restart it without that file. I could not find any information on the web about that except that it is a company. Please inform me of the way to use in order to solve that problem. That is a company server and I am in need...
