Environment: Transformer & Report Studio 8.3
I have been asked to find out the maxiumum size for measure names and column names.
To try to be clear, I mean the length of the measure name (e.g. Sales Qty) not the maximum length of the data it can hold.
Anybody know?
Thanks in advance
Ties
Thanks for replying.
I am aware that percentages are not additive, these numbers are used in further processing/manipulation for average values, but the user also needs to know the actual values at granular level.
To make sure I understand your reply:
are you suggesting 2 measures: one at...
Hi
I have a requirement to alter the rollup of a percentage measure. The scenario is this:
My dimension is Plant / Supplier / Part.
At the bottom level, Part, I want to report the actual percentage , eg. 90% or 170% etc.
However, when rolling up to the supplier level, I want to effectively...
Hi Ties. Thanks for the reply.
If I understand you correctly, when you were building the cube you were dynamically filling in the missing records with a database view.
The problem with my scenario could be the time to do that re the huge number of records and the resulting disk space used...
Hi Guys
I am using 8.3 Framework Mgr, Transformer, Analysis Studio, Report Studio, over Oracle.
I have a database with c10 million rows, essentially date based. I need to fill in the gaps between records, by essentially adding 'dummy' records.
For example, I have records for Week 1 and Week 4...
Hi guys
I am working on 8.3 with large volumes of data, upwards of 50 million rows (don't ask). We build the cube on a Unix server, and are having problems with running out of disk space.
One of the things I am looking at changing is WorkFileSortBufferSize. The setting in the script xml for...
Hi Guys
I am trying to migrate an Impromptu 7 catalog from Informix to SQL Server. The table names are the same but the owner(s) is different. I understand it can be done with a macro. I have several owners which all need to end up as 'scheme'.
Can anybody provide me a macro to change the table...
Hi
I haven't encountered the exact problems you have. But I have had some strange things happening, like PowerPlay aborting unexpectedly, and transformer sceeens not being redrawn properly.
I thought it was just my machine, but maybe not ?
Interesting ....

Yes it could be saved as ppr.
However unfortunately there are a number of existing reports which will need to be scheduled, and they have all been saved as ppx because this is the default type.
Hi Guys
I have PowerPlay Client 7.3 MR1. I want to use Cognos Scheduler to run a ppx report. The Scheduler only recognises ppr. Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Ian
if the cube names remain the same, and the dimensions/measures re unchanged then everything should be fine. you may need to 'point' the reports at the new cube location if it's different. you can do this by selecting the tick box 'prompt for location' before openinf a report.
Hope this helps
Ian
This is the type of problem you get if you have not applied the Config Mgr changes - you can only see remote cubes.
Go into Config Mgr, select the machine name, then click the apply icon.

Hi Guys
Just installed PPES, IWR etc. version 7.3 MR1 on W2003 server. I cannot access Upfront - I am getting "HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
Internet Information Services (IIS)"
I have re-checked the IIS settings, and Config mgr, services etc seem OK.
I can publish a cube to...
by default categories are regenerated on each cube update.old categories which are no longer needed remain in the model until you either manually remove them or run clean house.
by default the cube is recreated from scratch every time.
the 'update cube' option is a quick way to update the cube...
Hi Lynne
if you clean house, you will potentially lose those children under the manual levels if they have not been touched. if they then need to be included in subsequent cube updates, the catgories will be brought back into the cube as orphans (because you removed the parent/child...
