yes, has been my experience so far. i just send a message saying i'm rebooting server (yes, restart not coldboot) and sit tight. when back up, they continue to work. if they try to save, they get the message that network drives can not be located. but no one has lost anything that i am...
Same prob here too, but are you guys saying this is happening at the server...or the workstations? If i'm reading rite, these edits are done on server?
Andand, quick fix is to go to workstation, network setting, lan card, right click and repair. I have them do this and all drives pop rite...
i will definitely walk them thru the nlm. its the print queues that im concerned about at the moment. i've seen how full that gets.
thankseversomuch itsp....think some of the cobwebs in the novell side of my brain are clearing up.
thanks itsp, will look...however, i talked with them, they do have the purge.exe under public, better or worse? and and...trying to remember if it has to be run from console/rconsole, or can it run on workstation...proper rights understood. would like to have them run it, until i can talk them...
thanks for the quick responses, felt sure it was ok, but sure wanted to check it out first. and on the space issue, it did make big differences in the past. if i remember right, first time i ran it, there were kabillions of salvage files, and they do all take up space.
thanks again...
trying to help some folks with a 3.12 server thats running out of space. they sort of zoned out, when i asked if a purge has every been run. i moved away from novell few yrs ago and am leary of shelling them out to dos to run the purge /all. i know i did this on my 4.11, but i don't know if...
kinda guessing you've checked this, but switchboard tables...are under the table tab, and the form under forms tab. also, are you showing hidden files? just in case it was somehow marked hidden.
same thing was happening here, i uninstalled and reinstalled the client. seems there should be a better way, but read all and tried all i could find. opted for the last resort of just doing over. worked like a dream. got rid of couple other event log errors too.

so weird to read these..havent gotten this far before. but we have a lady in the office with that same (diff pitch i suppose) laff. we printed up those signs...like no smoking with circle and line thru, and cackling in the circle, oddly enuff, she found it funny. needless to say, the cackle...
i have worked with novell for about 10 yrs, for some reason.. that i dont even recall now, we decided to go 2k....and im about ready to toss the dadgum thing out the window. never had the battles with novell that we are having with 2000 server....so...for whatever that opinion is worth...its...
depending on how or who setup your computer (home?), can sometimes login in as administrator and default, i think, is no password. and rite, case-sensitive names and passwords big issue too.

if you go to control panel, scheduled tasks...add task, should be on the list. im not sure if it will run the update automatically, or just pop up the bubble to notify that an update is out there.

i have one user, that at least once a week, loses the start button. i can shut it down with the alt s, reboot and its back...but is there a key sequence they are accidently hitting that makes it disappear?
