Any time that you remove a device in NetBackup, you should first delete the device. This can be done via the GUI or the command line. I suggest the command line.
(PATH) <install_path>\VERITAS\Volmgr\bin
(COMMAND) tpconfig
(USAGE for deleting drives)
tpconfig -delete -drive <drive index>...
PGP is correct on this. "You must have an exclude in order to do the include. I know that it is kinda silly, however that is just how they made the product so many moons ago. Also, do not forget that you can do all of this administration from the master server itself. You need not go to...
You should be able to, however; If you do not use ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES on a win2k client, and y ou only specify C:\, then you will not backup the System_state- which is needed to perform disaster recovery of a win2k server.

That will more than likely not work. As I stated before, the first schedule that must be run in a policy is a FULL. Once again, it is in your best interest to recreate the policy.
Am I misunderstanding?
Well, whether you want to have one there or not, those are the rules friend. I promise you- if you do not have that FULL sched in the class, the INCR scheds, be they differential or cumulative, will always run as FULLs. Period.
What you need to do is to set up an exclusion based on your...
jdeane is correct. If you do not have the Remote Agent running on the machine that you are browsing from, then all of your selections will be "gray". Please add the remote agent license to correct this issue.

I am curious as to one thing:
You are specifying two different masters on one client?
I was not aware that this is possible. Reason being is that when you check your servers list in the registry, the first entry on the list is always the master. Second, when you go into...
SENTMEMAIL
*YOU MUST HAVE A FULL SCHEDULE IN THE SAME POLICY!!!!
Because you do not, this is why your cumulative policy always runs as a FULL!
If you read a couple of posts back:
Remember, this situation normally occurs due to the following:
-There is no FULL schedule in the policy...
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT:
Is the image expired or the media expired?
There are two types of retention in NetBackup:
Image retention-
This determines how long you will retain the backup image on the tape.
Media (tape) retention-
This determines how long you can use the physical tape in...
I agree with the last post 100%.
You should always check the binding order when you are attempting to spedify a NIC or required interface on a machine with multiple NICs.
Check the device monitor. You more than likely have a pending mount request. Let me know if this is not the case.
*Be careful in the device monitor as you may not be able to see the pending request. It is in a window that likes to minimize to the bottom of the GUI. Just keep your pointer...
I recommend neither. Each has a good point and a bad.
Cumulative Incr:
Good- Only need to Cum Incr backup to recover.
Bad- Takes up a lot more space on tape, and the backups take a lot longer.
Diff Incr:
Good- Takes up minimal space on your tapes, and backs up in a lot less time.
Bad- You...
You can script this out using the bpduplicate command. Locate this command in the SAG or the \NetBackup\bin subdir.
Once you have written the script, you can place it in a batch file that will force it to execute after the job has completed.
The file name will be:
bpend_notify.bat
The...
You should try switching to Differential Incrementals. Cumulatives grow with each backup and dpepending on what you change on a daily basis, these backups could rival the FULLs in size. Differential only backs up what has changed since the last backup. Cumulatives backup once has changed...
"how can i know what are the data that is backed up onto a tape?
thanks"
-NBU 3.4 or 4.5? There is a big difference. Also, if you get a status 0 on your job, you backed up everything that you specified. If not, you will get a 1.
"is there a command to prevent the backup...
The issue is that more than likely something is flagging the archive bit on most of your files. If it were something in the policy and/or the schedule, all clients in said policy would be affected.
By deselecting "Perform incrementals based on archive bit", you should force the incr...
