Hi guys
Apologies if i'm in the wrong forum!!
I'm running XP Pro (sweet as a nut and tweaked pretty good!)
but i'm having alot of problems with the perfomance of Windows Media Player 10.
I only use it to play my hoard digital music (approx 4000 mp3's 1000 wma) and recently the delay between...
personally i used to sell an awful lot of gateway products and the general consensus was that we expected them to come back faulty, add to that, i beleive UK support for Gateway to be all but none-existant nowadays???
also, i have numerous remaining gateways as client PC's in some of my smaller...
you can remove it from startup
just goto start > run > type msconfig > enter
then remove any reference to msn messenger in the startup tab
and/or just rename the messenger folder in the program files group

i had this problem for days on end, i'd say it was definitely a DNS issue.
best way i found to rectify it was to drop the pc from the domain, flush the dns (ipconfig /flushdns at cmd prompt)
then sort out the dns server address and dns names in your network settings, reboot and add back to the...
thanks for the replies people!!

Hi
I recently have had a few issue with power at a remote site and decided to install the above software to monitor/eliminnate the UPS.
I have an APC Smart UPS connected (via serial) to the server (W2K) with the agent and server software installed.
The problem i have is that during setup...
the trick is knowing how to setup XP to run less hungry.
minimising services running and doing simple things like changing the visual effects to run for best performance.
there is a load of documentation out there...
thats my vote for XP by the way...

why not get the ip from puter B, then on puter A just goto
Start > Run > \\192.168.0.2\c$ (or whatever ip it is)
easier to copy files that way surely.
To get the ip of puter B, Start > Run > cmd (if XP/2k/nt) or command (if 98). then type ipconfig
ta da!
hope this helps
ive had this issue before, you may need to disable CPU id in your bios settings to run NT on your machine, otherwise a bios update may fix problem.
this was with IBM thinkcentres and is a known issue with their tech support
you may also have problems with the HD drivers not working when...
i'd tried the atapi sys replacement to no avail..
sorry for not posting a reply, been away for the weekend.
So far ive not had to setup another PC in this way as formatting the partitions with XP setup did the trick.
I have logged a call with IBM regarding this.. no doubt they can shed some...
just to add to this.. i tries FDISK to no avail too... then....
ive managed to get the system up and running by formatting the partitions etc with an XP pro CD. then doing exactly the sam ewith the NT CD..
hardly a fix. but make it less urgent i suppose.
Hi
I have an XP pro SP2 machine at home connected to a Netgear switch/router. An idiot housemate of mine managed to riddle my PC with Adware by installing a heinous Active X component.
I ran Adaware to remove the offending files and now I cannot see the router!
XP reports that I have limited...
Hi people.
I have an issue installing NT workstation on a new PC.
I boot from NT CD (SP1), follow the prompts as usual.
When setting up partitions i initially create a 4gb partition to use as a boot partition, with 30+gb partition separate.
I format the 4gb (using entirely the NT CD) with...

I have managed to locate HP Colorado Backup II from a HP
