The host file was empty.
The only way I could get the server to connect to the clients was to populate it with the new addresses. Something which wasnt needed before readdressing.
This server is in a data centre with other servers that use DNS and WINS and nothing else is having any problems. Reverse names are used in DNS.
Using ping and nslookup etc from the server would seem to prove that its able to resolve addresses and host names and full names correctly.
I've even...
I have changed the IP addresses of my NT servers.
After the change my legato server cannot backup its clients.
I have 2 problems.
1st: the server cannot connect to or backup clients unless I put the addresses in the hosts file. I've never had to do this before. WINS and DNS are updated with...
It was the >= setting in the autoexec. Cheers for the advice. Not sure why the other servers did not develop the same issue, but I changed them anyway.
Although daylight savings settings would be the obvious problem i've gone through most of the novell issues and although the symptoms are similar none of the fixes apply to, or fix this problem.
DST status is OFF
UTC time is shown as correct
and the daylight savings settings are correct and...
Netware server 5.1
The time is incorrect within arcserve (backup agent) and also the wrong time is shown on the console screen as new items appear on screen. It is one hour ahead.
This is causing me problems as my backups start an hour early. Its not specific to arcserve as the system console...
I having a problem running batch files from some locations. The desktop and the root of network shares (netware)
I've got an archive of many admin batch files that have been used many times in the past. For some reason I cannot run these batch files from all locations on an XP machines
All that...
Sounds like a messy manual clean up to me, but i think the options you should of used if you wanted it to work in the way you descibed are:
File> preferences> user preferences> Mail and news>
Change the 'save sent mail' to either 'prompt for save' or 'dont save'. now sent mail will not save...
In my environment, bookmarks icons for the mail and Personal address book (PAB) and company address book (MAB)appear automatically. This is without any special setup you just need the mailserver and mailfile locations in both the Notes.ini and the location document. I think the naming of the...
I'm assuming that this is R5 Archiving.
The option to 'archive now' archives mail acording to your archive settings. If there is nothing setup then the option will just create an archive database with the folder structure, as you described.
You need to go into
Actions > Archive > settings...
Which version of notes do you use 5 ? 6 ?
When we get new users we setup their notes accounts without any user intervention (notes R5)
They are roaming users so they have a notes folder on a share.
The only required files are the notes.ini the bookmark, Names.nsf and the user.ID
The other...
If the suer can Archive Small docs, but not large ones with attachments It may be the Disc Space
Check how much space is available in the area the user Archives to. This would also explain why it just suddenly happened.
you need to remember that using logoff scripts to update your roaming files is that if the PC or session crashes they dont get updated ! We have this problem all the time with WTS users whom never loggoff their sessions correctly so the script does'nt run and their notes files dont get updated...
That makes sense. I think i've been looking at this the wrong way.
I assume that in order for the system to create profiles with preset rights you must use group policies (thats what they are there for)
If you dont want to bother with the policies, but still wish to have preset rights on the...
I do not have any group policies setup. I will go on to work with the policies but i want to understand why this is happening. I would be supprised if there is no way to set admin on these created profiles as having them appear with no access except for the users makes no sense.
Can this only...
I've got a test environmnet setup whereby Users (WINXP) log onto a WIN2000 server with active directory. Their profiles are writen to the server in a share. The problem is when this process happens no admin access is given to the profile folders so admins cannot open them on the server.
I've...
If the config files are all present, It would seem that the problem is completly in the notes.ini
do you use other local address books ?
Check in the notes.ini to see were it is loosing its link to the config files.
Names=names.nsf,other.nsf - check that other local address books havent...
Try making a new copy of the database file. Then replace the design on the file with either the same template (which would fill in any missing parts) or even a newer version of the same type of database. Even doing just a new copy can sometimes fix a problem and it may release some space.
This...
It could be far more simple.
Check the shortcut to make sure its starting in the right location.
Also, in the notes.ini file, check the line.
names=
this should be set to names=names.nsf,(other address books) I've seen cases where the other address books are listed in front. Change this back...
