Hi
I am a reseller for Norman Virus Control and Norman Data Defense has a Netware solution that works and works very well. The product is call Norman Firebreak. it works with Netware 4.11 to Netware 6.x and is edirectory enabled.
It is a great product, any client that has purchased it from...
Hi
Well, thanks xenotec for your help. Unfortuantely that didn't work but I took your thoughts and did some NLM comparing with the server that works fine with that tape drive .... I found out that it had an OLDER version of the aspi cdm nlm, so I used that older version NLM and bingo...it...
Hi
thanks for your input, the puzzling thing about his is that I have a similar server running with the same tape drive and with arcserve 6.61 with no service paks and it has been working just fine for over a year now.
I did check prior to ordering the tape drives and they are supported...
Hi
I have just upgraded my Tape drive which was a HP dat 40 gig drive to a HP VS80 DLT drive by simply swapping it in.
It is in a Compaq ML350 Server
the problem I am having is , the DLT drive is detected just fine with the scsi on POST. When Arcserve load s it finds it but right after it...
Hi
I have encountered the same thing with Arcserve 7.0. I worked all one day. I finally called support but they said that was extra $$$. hmm...I paid 5xx.00 for the software and still they want money. anyways. I found out that Arcserve uses ipport 111 and so does Novells Native file access...
We have 12 Netware 5.1 servers all running Arcserve 6.x and all servers have HP 12/24 and some 20/40gig Dat drives. We have had practically zero problems with that combination and all installations are in Compaq servers.
we have just recently in our larger servers switched from HP Dat drives...
Hi
we have it working with RedHat 8 and it works great using either IPX or IP...and it is very very fast browsing the volumes, much better than windows, that is for sure.

Netware CNE 5.x
Hi
Yes...here is a place to get IPX and IP client and the client works fine on either protocol.. it looks just like the windows client logon but it takes a bit of work to get some support files.
Here is the link to the Novell client that supports IP

Hi
I remember when Novell was bragging that you needed ONLY NWadmin to do ALL your network support. They ran M$ tools into the ground because of all the different tools needed to do the support. Now Novell with all its has been tools to me is a joke, seems M$ may have the last laugh...
Hi
Yes Console one is deathly slow and guess what...Novell is moving away from Console one and going to web based management. I believe Novell has losts its focus on good management tools... NWadmin was great, it had some snapin issues but it was no worse than any other of their attempts at a...

Netware CNE 5.x
Hi
For those interested in Antivirus Protection for Netware 6.x NOW Norman Firebreak is available. The Cost for software per server is 200.00 USD. If you outfit your whole network with Norman Antivirus including Server and wkstns you only pay for one server license and you can put it on as...
Hi
those errors in Arcserve log may be the key to where to look. Also check your Tape drive manufacturer for a fix for things like that. HP had exactly the same issue on a couple of my servers with previous versions of Netware and they had an NLM patch that seem to fix my problems. But my issue...
Hi
It is still like I said....a stop gap. It does nothing but provide access to your files. If you are running Netware 6 then you have some options...Zen 4.x provides you with options for using that product. No client is needed...just point your browser and if you are into a browser based...
I think you will find a good product for Netware 4.x right up to Netware 6 at Norman Data Defence. It is totally integrated with NDS. You can also manage it via the Server console and updates are a simple drag and drop to a directory on sys and it autoupdates. If all your servers are in the...
Hi
I am not Pissed off....just very disappointed with the effort Novell put into it. The problem with enabling it for windows users is that it makes the Novell server look like an NT or 2k server. The only problem with that is now your Netware server has the SAME vulnerbilities as a Microsoft...
Hi
Native file access gives you nothing, just access to your home directory, you get no services at all, To me it is a joke, but if you just want access to your files...then that is all you get. you can not run any login scripts...think of it as login in to bindery services. When you do that...
Hi
By the way, what printing system you using...there has been an assumption that you are using the OLD Netware printing system on Nw 5.1, are you using NDPS/NEPS?
You can delete them out of the directory that NDPS is using but again you are faced with a similar issue that you can not...
