    4606 ip registering problems

4606 is not listed as supported handset for IPO with 3.2 software. There are a LOT of certified H.323 handsets that are not supported on IPO (probably due to some strange attribute of IPO). Some are even Avaya's own product. STRANGE, but thats the way it is.

    How Many IP Endpoints?

with 40 remote users you are approximating 1.2MB bandwidth, plus VPN overhead, plus internet traffic. This internet service would need to be seperate with some level of QoS provided by the carrier (preferably the same carrier for all location to avoid finger pointing). Its much easier to do...

What is the most *cost effective* way to bring in 3-4 lines into a IPO

In this part of the world (Oz) analog & BRI (NOT PRI) installation costs are almost identical PER SERVICE. Rental per voice cct is cheaper using BRI. 4 x analog service cost the same as 2 x BRI. Then there is a saving on rental, AND you get ISDN functionality. Have use this on systems other...

    Monitor Trace

Andy, - have you been able to confirm that code mentioned above fixed your system reboot issues, as we have seen the same issue. However Avaya want a whole bunch of data (thats near impossible to collect due to the randomness of the issue) before they even CONSIDER providing any response. Our...

    Recommended Switch

We have used Linksys and HP POE switches successfully, but had problems with 3com switches passing BOOTP / DHCP data after variable timeframes. BEWARE that many IP phones use half the max power rating available, but that does NOT include the Avaya phones. With 14 IP hones you should just...

    Registration of non-Avaya endpoints

A packet capture of the registration and session might reveal something. I have had to do this, and can report that the issue was not with the 3rd party device.

    AVAYA VOIP

We have had bad experiences with 3 seperate 3com POE switches. These were the cheaper models. They would cause handsets to stop functioning (never did find out why but it was not power related)). Changing to ancient HP switch (and using plug packs for the phones) resolved the issue. This...

    IPO and DHCP

IPOffice can provide dhcp server functions, however the IPOffice itself must be fixed IP address (as must the default gateway if one exists).

    IPOffice IP Conference Phone

I have a customer who has an IP only phone environment (no digital lines). There does not seem to be a lot (any ?) H323 type conference phones. Plenty of SIP, but no H323 What H323 conference phones have people use successlly with IPO (3.2.53)?

    Short Codes

Some (most ??) carriers will substitute the CID info if its not within the range of numbers they have assigned to exchange line. This means that no CID, or incorrect CID (from carriers erspective) will result in (typically) the main number being presented.

    Registration of non-Avaya endpoints

IP End point licences are required for 3rd party H323 phones. If you dont have (sufficient) licences the registration of the phine will be rejected, and not be able to make calls. Experience has shown that the IPO can be very fussy about 3rd party end points (with or without licence). A...

    Door Release with IP Office

If you are interested in sourcing / making your interface, I think you will find that they use the ring/tip as a dry contact type interface. Low currents are in order (50ma), so you may need it to drive a relay for to operate the 'door release' using external power supply(s).
