I have a client running a ip403.

They have three seperate dial out short codes, of 7, 8, 9. Each sending out a different CID. They have space rented to a 4th party. I have put short codes in his user settings. The issue is sometimes the show his CID, sometimes they show the main CID.

He calls my cell (verizon) and i get his CID. He calls his cingular cell and he gets the main CID.

Any ideas?

First check in Monitor what outgoing numbers are send, then you are sure that the problem is in the IPO.

If you see in Monitor that the number is send correctly then its a provider problem.

What release software and what shortcodes?

I have had similar issues with Sprint, Verizon and Nextel. I could make a call from a phone to my Nextel and get caller id. Then from the same phone call my Sprint phone and get no caller id or just get the main number. If you look in the system monitor you should see that you are sending the caller id out. Some carriers will override it i think. when the monitor is running you will get all the call info in Blue and you should see called number xxxxxxxxxx and then calling number xxxxxxxxxx and you can see exactly what you sent when you dialed.

I've also found that some carriers do better when using the SiXXXYYYZZZZ format (vs just SXXXYYYZZZZ)

Some (most ??) carriers will substitute the CID info if its not within the range of numbers they have assigned to exchange line.

This means that no CID, or incorrect CID (from carriers erspective) will result in (typically) the main number being presented.

I had (have) a similar problem. Slightly different setup, as I'm using an IP trunk.

I don't use any CID override. When I make calls over the IP trunk, sometimes the CID is the extension number, and sometimes it's the correct CID. There seems to be no reason why/how it decides what the CID will be.

I debugged this issue with help from our service provider (of the IP trunk). They now rewrite the CID if it's invalid, using our main office CID.

As far as I know, the IPO thinks an IP trunk is another IPO, hence sending just the extension number most times. Obviously this will be different for PRI/BRI, but it sounds like the same bug.

FYI, I'm using 3.1.48

One question though, which is related. Can I use a shortcode suffix of SiXXXXXXXXYYY, where YYY is the extension number of the caller's phone? I don't want to have to write different short codes for each user, and I'd prefer that each user has their own CID. The IP trunk is working OK, but the BRI lines just have the main number, which is not very helpful.
