In my experience with CITRIX terminal server the RAM is usually the issue. I had to trouble shoot a problem where we had to servers that performed drastically different. The only difference between the 2 servers was the RAM and one was dual processored. The single processor had more RAM and...
Tagmaster,
It would be best to change the password and then solve the minor issues. Besides, the programs you mentioned happend to either use the backup user or creat their own userid to function. Very few, except maybe SMS, actually use the administrator password for login. Otherwise the...
IF ou are taking your old PDC down why are you not upgrading it also?
IF the old PDC doesn't meet 2000 Specs, I would rename the BDC after you promote it. Thus you would need to do the promotion of the BDC, remove the old PDC and then rename the new PDC. Thus the upgrade goes smoother. With...
SDHammer,
Thanks for the information. That is the first bit of software I have found that doesn't require going to NT 4.0 first.
Have you actually used the product? :-D "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

I agree with Techidiva, all servers should be static.
As for your problem it sounds more like the subnet mask is different between your NT and your 95 machines. Check that first. Then check your gateway.
By accessing the files from 95 do you mean accessing them via computer name and mappings...

Of course this implies some things. First that your time server, usually a PDC in NT4.0, is keeping...
Loaferman,
Loved you FAQ. YOu forgot the money for the baby-sitter in #4 but otherwise yes I agree. Maybe even add in #6, get a good "non-work" book and enjoy it for the weekend.
Also for the married types, better add #7 - Repaet step #4 over and over....LOL "Any sufficiently...
Doina,

Orionsong,
Your nslookup on an external client will not resolve to anything unless you have the domain name registered and an A record entered in your ISP DNS associating the domain to a public IP.
Your public IP could be the external IP of you firewall. You then need to open port 80 for the...
Bmorey,
YOu didn't say what the results of the winipcfg was? Did you have a valid IP address before you did a release and renew? "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

I am in the process of researching tools for migration of Banyan Vines to Windows 2000 with AD and Exchange 2000. Are there any tools out there that someone can point me towards. So far my reseach has found only 1
