    It means updating the BIOS version. Leter versions of BIOS have bug fixes and can support new technology (eg. bigger hard drives, more RAM) better. Kind of like a service pack for Windows or a game patch.

    I had a compaq presario....and the HD was only 518MB so it couldnt take windows 98... I assume ur machine is similar to that...if it is u shouldnt have upgraded in the first place, the PC cant take it.

    My machine is late 2000, and it runs fine with 9.0b...and it has Windows 98SE. Maybe they havent tested it properly with the original Win98... Use microsoft help if possible

    ntfs.......thats a file system...perhaps you need to reformat. u can backup data with 256MB, then install the new RAM then reformat. NOT GUARANTEED - only a suggestion :)

    Just stick with 512 (win98se max unless you want the rest of the RAM unused). Then get 2000 (or XP) which can cope with that 2GB you want. :)
