Hi,
I have a SP which is Auxing 20TB of data, tape to tape (sigh).
If you goto the SP/AUXcopy/Jobs you can see what has been copied (available), partial and still to be copied.
Now it all seems a bit haphazard to me in that there are partials all over the show and are not being done in order.
I...
605, thanks for responding.
I don't think I made myself too clear.
I am definitely changing the 1000's of jpg's by shrinking/resizing them (to save space) but I do not want to back them up at next backup (WAN links cannot handle that much data).
If I'm using the "Classic File Scan" option in...
Hi,
I'm using Classic File Scan on my File and Print Win2003 servers. I have not ticked the boxes "Preserve Access Time" or "Check Archive Bit during...". CV is ver7 SP5. Backups work fine with SyntheticFulls and Incr as they should.
Now, I'm needing to shrink 1000's of jpgs on 80 servers but...
Hi,
I want to be able to move decommissioned servers from it's usual SP to the Archive SP, run a single Full to Primary disk and then Aux to tape multiple times so that I end up with multiple copies of the same data on different tapes.
My Archive SP is setup (prim-to-disk and an Aux-to-tape)...
Commvaultdude,
Yup the filter is applied correctly.
I have a few other filters that do seem to work and they have a \** on the end.
*:\**\Disksets*\***:\**\I386*\***:\**\RECYCLER*\**
So I'm thinking I probably need to add that to my .pst one.
Although I thought the above template meant...
Hi,
I'm trying to prevent .pst's from being backed up on my File & Print servers.
I have a Global Filter of *:\**\*.pst
I'm not sure this is working properly as it seems pretty hit and miss.
Does anyone have one that they know works?
Cheers
Birky,
Nope that was the right way round.
However I've since done a synthetic full (so now have 2 fulls under the belt) and it now looks more like the way you expected it.
Total size of Single Instanced data: 181GB

Hi,
I'd like some clarification on the definitions in the "Single Instancing" tab on my primary copy please.
I have backed up a single server with a full and some incrementals to get an idea of "SI savings". Total data size is 201GB with a compression ratio of 1:35.
Total size of Single...
I really am a numpty.
"When media are re-called there is usually an "action" held against them under the Action window which is located in the browse column under Vault Tracker. Go there and see if that is the case. Highlight the action an abort it."
Job done.
Commvaultdude,
Thanks for the feedback. I've tried your ideas but no luck I'm afraid.
Using the Library interface does allow me to export the tapes but CV does not "reset" them. I put them back in and they stay "recalled for restore".
Stop/started the CC services too but no go there either...
Hi,
I've been a bit of a numpty and recalled 2 scratch tapes.
Now nothing will backup to them as they are in a "recalled for restore" state. I can't even export them out of the library.
I have no pending restore jobs to cancel.
I've tried deleting/erasing/moving the tapes around to no avail...
I think I've found the reason for the error.
On the tape under usage info, the "No. Of Media Label Errors:" is 6. The threshold was set to 5 and therefore tape has been deprecated.
So, I've increased that threshold to 10 in the hope that the tapes would then "undeprecate" itself. This has not...
Hi,
I'm having a problem with my Library which is being fixed tomorrow(hopefully).
Basically it's reporting the drives need cleaning and has, in my opinion, marked some tapes incorrectly as deprecated.
"Repeated errors during read and write or the usage counters have now exceeded a threshold...
Birky,
Thanks for that but I'm still a bit lost and I'm probably not making myself too clear.
I understand how incr work, easy to understand when it's just file and print. Where I'm coming unstuck is how that works in exchange db's.
Do exchange db incr work the same way in that they backup the...
Hi,
Could someone please enlighten me as to what exactly is backed up by the Exchange DB agent when an incremental is run.
Does it just backup the logs?
I've tried the books online but it just tells me that an incremental backs up only the changes, not what and how?
Thanks
