I have had this problem several times. I think it is something to do with Windows - for some reason although the user has closed the database, Windows thinks the user account is holding the file. Rebooting the pc usually fixes the problem, else check the file permissions, as already suggested.
Thanks for the response,
I could store the data in three separate columns. If I did that, how would I work with time calculations? (I am going to need to calculate the number of hours between two times).
I am creating a page where the user needs to enter a time that will get stored in an access database. I can get it to work fine if I have the user key the time into a text box (and I have the form send the results to database). However, I would rather use drop down boxes for the hour, minute...
I have an NT server and workstations running W2K. I am trying to set system policies to disallow users a DOS prompt. The documentation I have read suggests this option should appear under system > restrictions, but it is missing. How do I make this option appear??
Thanks in advance,
Amber
For the sake of reference - here is how I solved my problem.
I reloaded the computer from scratch twice and still had the same problem - so I used a second computer and loaded that one in an identical maner. The second one worked - so the problem must be hardware based somehow.
Hope this...
I am trying to set up a VPN from a NT BDC. It hangs when registering the computer on the network, and then returns the error "TCP/IP CP reported error 732: The PPP negatiation is not converging".
Curiously, when I try the same VPN from a workstation, everything works fine. (and...
From a dos prompt when I type letters.mdb the exact error is 'bad command or file name'. The path is definately correct and I chacked the file associations as well.
(The rest of the batch file works ok, which is why I haven't pasted it in)
Thank you,
Amber
I need to use batch files to open a database. This works fine on machines running NT. However, computers running ME do not recognise 'letters.mdb' as a command to open the database.
Does anyone know how to open a mdb file from DOS using ME?
Thank you

How can I move the personal folder to another drive and still keep it acting as the My documents folder?
(ie when I click open from MS word, I can still use the personal button there to open the folder).
Thanks in advance.
Hi, In access 2000, use the wizard to make a 3 column combo box. Select hide key column and only the first column is displayed in the text box. The other 2 columns are only visible once the drop down arrow has been pressed.
You could use vb .....
Private Sub duration_GotFocus()
duration = DateDiff("d", [completion_date], [scheduled_date])
End Sub
This will calculate the difference between the dates in days - might be a good start for you. I put it in the 'on focus' event for the duration date, but you...
I have been asked to extend a current access database to include customer call logging. This is going to involve memo fields with alot of text. I use replication accross a WAN and am concerned about the database size increase (should I use a linked table?) as well as the large increase in...

And once again, Thank you!

ctrl and F1 didn't work either. I keep trying looking for a black screen but it goes straight from the dell start up screen to the win ME splash screen.
Thank you ever so much for helping
Amber
Thank you both for your replies.
When I start the PC the boot screen (if there is one) goes so fast that I can't catch it with the pause button! I have tried every F key and esc etc as the machine reboots. Does anyone else have any other ideas how I can gain access to the BIOS? -This is just...
