    First disable the hibernation mode. Then you have to understand that when SP2 is installed it has to restart to complete installation. If it is not installed properly it will keep restarting until it is. SP2 has given us problems at work also but we slowly been able to work around it.

    I haven't used 98 in a good while, but uninstall your video card driver. Go into your display properties and change your video type to a standard type. Restart your machine and re-install driver. If you change to 2000. You may have to start your machine in VGA mode and then install the driver.
