    Exchange settings?

When email is routed from the Exchange servers to external mail servers, it is logging it's FQDN in the mail header (servername.xx.xx.xx.xx.mil). This means that someone with a yahoo account for example would be able to find out what our DNS namespace is, as well as computername and possibly the...

Can't access shares on 2003 server from NT domain

Just a thought but verify certain things: 1) 2K3 server IP address in the NT DNS Manager. 2) On your 2K3 server, add the NT DNS address in your TCP/IP settings. What is the exact error message? Access denied or Unable to connect to share?

WindowsUpdate no longer works on 2003 Server

Do you have IE security enabled? when you goto Add/Remove Programs --> Add/Remove Windows Components, see if IE Enhanced security is installed. Worst comes to worst, just download the "network" version of IE6 SP1.

    Client set-up

    1) Was the user able to use these apps before? 2) What's the OS for the client? I'm assuming 2K3 since we're on 2k3 forums :) 3) You may have to verify the PORT on the Firewall to ICQ and FTP. What happens when they execute the programs? It won't get out, right? 4) Try adding them to the LOCAL...

    40960 & 40961

Try couple of things: 1) check which process is being utilized in task manager. It sounds like one of your agents or services is taking up the CPU. 2) What does your APPLICATION or SYSTEM event log say specifically? What is the SOURCE? 3) Also, which remote prog are they using? Remote...

try this approach. Instead of mapping to your .pst, login to the domain and create a NEW pst. If you're able to do this then you'll have to its obviously an issue w/ that particular PST file. Check the permission on it as well. good luck.

    NTDS KCC - error 1121

I'm getting this on one my DC and can't find ANY data as to how to fix this issue. This is a Win2K3 domain controller. I've verified replication (sites/services, netIQ - Adcheck & dcdiag) so I know its not replication. Thanks for your input.

    Active Directory... server not responding

Verify in Sites/services whether your 2nd box is a Global catalog server. If your GC is down, your users won't be able to login.

    Printing

Verify the permission so only specific users can see. by default, EVERYONE is granted rights to print to any printer.

Registry setting disable IE Options for Clients

You can either configure group policy within the domain to restrict users from changing the IE options or set a local security policy to prevent this. Good luck.

Trouble joining XP Pro client to 2000 Server domain

I agree w/ westredd, unjoin the XP workstation from the domain - put to workgroup - then rejoin. If you're running active directory, make sure you remove the object prior to joining it back to the domain otherwise, you'll receive a msg stating that the object is already present. good luck
