Since this is a pop up and not currently installed on your computer (based on your original thread) I think its a BHO. Remove all temporary internet files, and cookies. Also try resetting your homepage.
One last question, why are your .exe's coming from Windows.0\System32?
You can remove these...
Any idea what the driver was for future reference? Also, how would a faulty driver install itself onto a clean computer? It sounds like there was more to this one than just that. If it transferred itself to your clean computer, then it has some type of worm associated with it, not just a trojan...
Combination of 2 things, Active Desktop was enabled, and the refresh rate was set to unknown, set that back to default, and cleared the active desktop.....thank you all.

2 reasons I cant do that.
1) User in MD I am in VA

I agree with you both on that one, it has the 15 second count down when you select that. The question is now, if they did not select yes, and it did not accept the new changes, is there any way to revert it back to the previous settings. The bad thing about this is, i am able to get the...
refresh rate hasn't changed, safe mode automatically selected 640X480 in safe mode, on reboot it still goes back to the black screen. WOuld this be something to do with Active Desktop, or an over written file?

I have a client that tried to install a new background/wallpaper on their desktop, when they tried to save the picture to the desktop, the resolution was horrible. So they tried to customize the desktop, and chage the size of the picture. After doing so they got the prompt that said the screen...
I am setting up a wireless network in my house with only a webkey as the security. I know that it should be enough for a simple network scan to see if I have any kind of encryption setup, but what about the more advanced hackers? What kinds of tools are out there to crack webkeys? Is there some...
I see no problem in uninstallation, because when you re-register if you type in the valid information it should take the new registration, if there is a problem in this you might have to hunt in the registry all occurences of McAfee and delete those keys. You may want to search on McAfee's...
I would not advise saving it onto the system, for this reason: ALL AV software out only catches what virii has been discovered, decompiled, and have a signature file created for them, AV software does not protect computers in every instance. If you allow users to download a file that is a virus...
I agree, the practice tests are the way to go, but don't just memorize, know why the answer is right and you will have more success in the industry.

In the meantime, try booting into safe mode, then see if your icons are working, if not try to enter into the locations manually as the virus/program may have disabled or deleted the target paths. You can also try going to the registry, Hkey Local Machine- Software-Microsoft- Windows- Current...
Try spybot search and destroy instead of adaware I found it to be a better program. Also boot into safe mode after you update spybot and run it there, it should kill any processes that might be running on your hdd. After you do these then run HJT!, because the log file will be alot cleaner and...
I think that is a good point to make IF IT IS A BUSINESS, he never specified that. You cant restrict home users the same way you restrict a business. Corporations can restrict users because they are providing the computers, the Internet connection, and software. Now if a user bought his own...

joedofou never really mentioned that this is indeed business use. From my standpoint if a user at his home wants to actively browse the web, that is their option. The recommendations you made are great for business use, but when you try to talk a home client into restricting their...
