First off I refomated the drive on my main working computer to Fat32
Then tryed in the Hp,
Still no joy here still show up but...
Sorry I think there is bit of miscommunication here, the drive is not a hard drive but a flash drive.
It is Scan Disk 1 GB flash drive format: FAT
The drive is recognized in the following:
Window Explorer = "Drive I" but does not show content
Disk Manager= Disk # 5 but listed as Unreadable...

I have done what you suggest and looked for any device that may not have deleted properly.
Since this is new installed, I did not find any thing that did not belong, there were no greyed out items to be found.

Yes, that was the first thing I did. The drives were tried on 2 different computers and they worked perfectly.
And the drives showed up in the proper places.

I just installed WinXp Pro Sp3 on this computer. I have added the necessary drivers for the Chipsets.
The computer has 4 usb ports on the back of the computer and one in the front along with a multil card reader.
The problem is none of the port will show the content that is on the flash drive...
If I start Windows Explorer it works ok for Opening folders, expanding and collapsing folders or drives.
However if I try and do a search or go to file types, it deplays the message "Windows has encounter and must end program"
Can I lose part of the program functionality while still retaining...
I would get a program like
NetMeter
to determine how my downloading is really acting.
It is simple program that shows downloading speed, I find it useful in determining if there is a problem.

I have not seen any software that will record directly to a burner like you are asking for, however that does not means it does not exist. The software I know of writes a file to the harddrive then you would burn it to a dvd or cd.
You would be better asking this question in forum like listed...

But why are you attempting to clone the whole drive?
Why not just re-install the operating system on the new drive?
Do really want to take the chance that some of the drive you are coping is bad and you will not know it until you attempt to use it...

Would it be possible for you to take the disk to your friend computer and see what the properties are for the disk.
Specifically what is the File System ?
UDF,
ISO9960,
Juilet,
CDFS,
or other?
Were you using the disk like a floppy where you just clicked and drag file or did you actually burn...
What program did you use to burn the dvd?
Did you verify the data was on the dvd after burning?
Did you friend have any problems with dvd?
Do other burnt dvds work?
Are you using the same computer it was burnt on?
