This has been driving me nuts for a few years really on Windows PC's and I've finally decided to see if anyone can help. It basically only happens to me while I'm typing on laptop keyboards for whatever reason. I am not a good typist at all but I can 'peck' pretty fast after all these years and...
Two things are really bugging me these days in regards to information privacy and security and I thought I'd bring them up here to get some feedback on them. First if all is the issue of these cell phone apps. When you read the user and privacy agreements you have to agree to download it freaks...
Going from Windows 95,98 and ME which, from what I understand, work on the DOS shell (or something like that) to Windows 2000 or XP (which are built on NT structure )can be risky and/or problematic endeavor for some computers and processors. Some applications might not work anymore or you might...
Mattjurado is trying to help determine whether the Sygate firewall program started the modem problem after you installed it but you're not saying what got installed first or whether you've had a problem with the modem ever since you first installed it. I'll share my experience with WinME and...
I don't know what caused my IE 6 browser operation to change. I generally like to show my favorites on the left edge of my browser window. Sometimes when I visit a site though the list of favorites will disapear a be replaced with a list links related to the site I'm at. This is a real nuisance...
I got a critical update cd direct from Microsoft and installed the updates on my ME machine. It boots up definitely some things are screwed-up/changed and I wish I had not installed it. I definitely believe what Gateway said about the update corrupting some Windows files. I'm having problems...
Problem solved. I went into Add-Remove Programs - Windows Setup and selected Dialup Networking and cliked Apply. It asked if I wanted to delete and I said yea. Then I let reboot and wne back in and selected and cliked then Applied and let it re-add and the re-booted. Dialup is in Communication...
I attempted to add Internet Connection Sharing and it changed something in my TCP/IP settings or somewhere else I haven't found yet and now I cannot view webpages in IE. I use Netzero and it's troubleshooting help had me look at a bunch of TCP/IP stuff that is all okay. I can connect to my AOL...
As I mentioned; I tried adding the Dialup Networking in Windows Setup portion of Add-Remove Programs and it didn't add the Dialup Adpater as I expected it to also. Thanks.
I deleted the Dialup Adapter from my Network Setup window and can't figure out how to re-add it in WinME. Help tells you how to delete it if you think it's causing problems but doesn't tell you how to re-install it (sorry-ass Windows help). I figured it could be re-installed using the Add -...
I have discovered the "Cannot Find File' problem is being caused by the Popup Stopper from Panicware that is installed on our machines. If you disable turn off this utility (Right-clik on icon and select 'Exit' in toolbar) you will not have the problem. Simply disabling the popup stopper...

Hi ssVBAdev. I looked and do not see SuperEDI installed on my machine. I just started working at this company and received a new machine already configured with some stuff (so my PC and I are just getting to know each other you might say). I don't see that program though. I had a Win2000 machine...
Mapleleaf,
Double-cliking files associated with ACDSee produces the same "Cannot Find File..." error so I don't think it's a Microsoft or MSOffice specific problem. I think it's some other Win2000 setup problem. It's on my work machine and our IT guys are looking into but I thought I'd...
Hi Mapleleaf. Yea that looks like same problem I'm having. Tons of info there but I'll track what's going on there and also pass info to my IT guys as FYI. Thanks.
This problem is happening with Microsoft Word and other application associations as well so I don't think it's a MS Office problem but rather a general system problem. If I double-clik a DOC file WORD opens up but I get an error window saying the file or one of it's components is missing. The...
Well I deleted the Client For Microsoft Networking service and the Netbui protocol, rebooted the computer and re-added then them re-botted again and that fixed my problem.
