    did you enable it to print on the high resolution photo mode and make sure you use everything the same when testing this even still I doubt that it will make much of a difference they always boast these resolutions and they look exactly the same unless your going from 600 to 1200 on a photo...

    for the Phaser models especially at $217 for a fuser for this model thats a good price I'd jump on that as I don't think you'll find it much cheaper and yeah the fuser can become contaminated with alot of crap so its not surprising good luck and if you have anymore questions just lemme know...

    No no the drums are the print cartridges inside the front door you pull down, you have to release that clip and pull down the bar in the front then remove the waste toner cartridge then the drums are the long blue cylinders with photoreceptive material on the faces so don't touch them either...

    I almost forgot also on the end of that upper feed shaft there is a clutch that can sometimes go bad causing intermittent feed problems and jams and thats easily replaced part no. is 401-0855-01 might have been updated to newer one by now but thats the number I have in this manual. regards...

    Inside of the upper feeder there is a small PWB with some switches on it that have small white actuators that can stick or become broken its behind that metal heat shield which you'll need a torx screwdriver to remove to see. regards, Nick NCXI.com
