make a public folder named Junkmail, set it to auto delete everything that is sent to the folder... start adding all the ex employee's email addresses to the folder...
take a look at the folder every once in a while, some times, rarely emails get through and not deleted...
first off quit using pab... use contacts instead...
contacts are backed up - ussuming you do backups...
pab is in the client computer and the user has too much control over
now, look into the client computer in the application data/microsoft/outlook folder of the user profile.
see if there...
you say you see about 3000 items in the mailbox...

If the user has reoccurring tasks, and meetings.. they count higher than one..
you might only see the one in outlook, but if it comes up every month, then that is 12..
Also, what about old stuff that was not archived? did...

luckily, I always set up maximum diagnostics with inbound and outbound email...
Anyway, they gave me the time period to look for, I used file search to search throuh the IMC/in and out directories and gave them text files of all the emails...

You are going to have to create a new server with the same name as the old server. Copy the pub.edb and priv.edb from the server out of exchsrvr\mdbdata directory. after you save them in the same directory of the new server you need to go to dos and run the restore from file utility...

FYI - Exchange 5.5 doesn't care about the domain in the same way NTFS does.

move all the mailboxes and public folders to the new server...
shut down the old server
confirm operation...
