Okay, I have very limited knowledge on this and am needing big help. Right now we have echange 5.5 running on nt server.. we have external email hosted by epix. the company just split into 2 parts, one part is going to stay as is. but the new compay is going to be different. I already went and registered a domain name and I now want to host our own email for the the new company on the same server, while the other company still gets its email through epix. What would be the simplest way for me to do this and please put it to simple terms.

Welcome to the big leages kid...

Call your ISP, tell them what you are doing. Make sure they can do it. Some ISP are not Exchange friendly.

There are white papers on the MS site that will give you step by steps..

Basically, you need to create an internet connection. After setting up the connection, you are in business assuming your ISP did his job.

You need to be running Exchange SP4 to protect yourself from spammers using your server as a relay. By the way make sure you read the whitepapers, they tell you all about the relay's people try.

And unless you are willing to infect the world, get either Trend for Exchange or Norton for Exchange. Both work fine, Although Norton seems a little better.

The whitepaper info can be found on the technet web site..
