Recently an employee has been fired and the mailbox and user account has been deleted. (Windows NT4.0 w/Exchange 5.5)This employee "played" on the internet alot, and signed up for many free subscriptions. The Administrator mailbox has been getting loaded with inbound and outbound message failures for all messages that were intended for this deleted recipient. Approximately 300 per day!... The ES oubound message queue is always filled with messages that cant get out. Its all junk, advertisements, spam... how can I completely stop this junk from coming in to ES?

well, since it's coming from all over the place, it's not really feasible to try and block it all using the standard exchange tools. instead, you could create a DL and assign this guys SMTP address to it, then hide it from the GAL. this way, the mail will reach a destination, so you won't get NDR's, but won't actually be delivered to anyone.

That is what we do, it works well, but you still get loads of emails coming into that 'terminated users' account. You can specify a reply address, and then when messages end up in that mailbox, you can unsubscribe as that person...sometimes that will bring even more mail in (as you are acknowledging that address as valid), but still reduces the amount somewhat...

make a public folder named Junkmail, set it to auto delete everything that is sent to the folder... start adding all the ex employee's email addresses to the folder...

take a look at the folder every once in a while, some times, rarely emails get through and not deleted...
