Hi,

I have Postfix relaying mail to the internet for our internal Exchange server, however, the reverse setup (ie, the postfix relaying back to the Exchange box) doesn't seem to be working. Checking syslog for errors I see

"relay=none, delay=101943, status=deferred (connect to [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]: Connection timed out)".

If I try to telnet to the Exchange box from the postfix box it times out. There is connectivity there as I can ping the Exchange box and from the Exchange box I can telnet to the postfix box.

Any thoughts?

it doesn't sound like the postfix but it could be...

are you sure you don't have port 25 blocked?

No I can telnet to port 25 from other machines on the LAN and also to 25 from the internet (using a shell account). It's the internal communication between postfix and exchange that's not working although, as I said above, the Exchange box is forwarding mail TO the postfix program which is working perfectly as an smtp relay...
