    Look in the event logs for SCSI sense key errors aginst the device rahter hthan Networker. Se what sense keys and such it reprots. e.g Sense key 0x03 ASC 020 ASCQ 040 (before anyone yells, those are random number choices for a media fail, not necessarily valid codes). Tony

    How do you connect to the library/drives? Is there a switch or anything in the path? If so, check these as well as the relevant CA/OS Device patches. We have found DART version/configurations on NAS filers can cause this when NDP is in use and that switches with unvalidated firmware also.

    Cleaning in Legato versus Library

    On the L700 range, it is recommended by Storagetek/Sun to have the library (rather than the backup application) do the cleaning as they respond to the cleaning request light on the front of the tape drives (as long as your firmware is reasonably up to date so that this function works).

    You also have an inadequate (for best efficiency) split of data. Try lowering your target sessions and removing any other lmiting factors so that of the 16 sessions, you get 8 onto each drive as it could be that some clients are feeding data through too slowly.

    DR networker server

    Try using nsrjb -ln -f /dev/rmt/1cbn -S15 the n tells it mount but no load. The difference is that the OS can see it to allow scanner to work, but nsrwatch would not show it on hte drive as Networker proper does not have it mounted.

    Tape Drive Issue

    You will need Libattach so that the Windows server can talk to the ACSLS server. The mounts & dismounts get sent over the network, not as SCSI packets.

    Possibly a daft question. Is it possible to run multiple scanner commands on one server (e.g. 4 tape drives, run scanner against 4 tapes at once)? TIA

    Fake tape full

    If tapes are showing as full prematurely, there is a problem. Look in your daemon.log for unknown errors (If Windows) or SCSI / sense key errors.

    Depends on teh jukebox. With Storagetek, you could use Library Admin to see what is in the CAP as thy refer to it.

    Each group that runs sets off a savegrp. Each savegrp uses memory. nsrexec is being used for each communication to clients I believe. Each uses it's own resource - cpu and memory. it sounds like you should reduce your server parallelism to a level where you aren't usibng 100% cpu on all cpus...
