In this scenario there are 2 separate risks that (arguably) warrant mitigation: 1) bad stuff e.g. virus that comes through with the [encrypted] vpn payload; and 2) anything else that might be trying to compromise the external interface of the contivity (syndos, cleartext, etc.).

I think it's fair to say that DLink does not produce what are generally considered to be Enterprise Class (i.e. 'commercial') routers. That said, your router model 'should' work just fine for 7 users/connections, indeed for many more than that - DLink certainly thinks so...
I'm assuming you are all using nortel vpn client v5.01 or above? The eacfilt 'driver' is a component of the nortel client software. Does the VPN connection work using any of the other network (i.e. wired LAN or dialup) interfaces on the PC?
To see if the configuration 'looks' like it should...
I don't believe the Nortel can be programmed in the admin interface to distinguish/filter secondary+ connection attempts from specific remote WAN IP. It can do a filter based upon the username/password supplied at login but I doubt that's the issue, here.

Did you powercycle linksys? Before next, go into linksys router management interface and then to (approx) Security > VPN and validate that the radio button for Enable IPSec is selected. If not, this is issue. Click button, then save below.

Did you register RRAS for the win xp vpn server in your local Active Directory ? I don't believe this would affect your LAN based (successful) attempts.

To clarify, I'm assuming the scenario is: remote client connects using VPN to XYZ network (i.e. where the VPN concentrator is located). Client then sends print jobs to appliance at XYZ successful, but no internet. Flip the checkbox and situation reverses. Correct ?
