It's that time again..."Vanity Plates VI" is over 100 images now, so here's a new start with a Vanity Plate
on a vehicle owned by someone who is obviously very vain about his wheels:

In Germany, there is no such thing as a Vanity Plate...

the license plates are (up to) 3 letters denoting the 'Bezirk' (county or city) code, one dash, two letters, and (up to) 5 numbers (not to sure about the numbers)... e.g. my bike BIR - OT 1, or S - TH 3348...

I don't see why a government would prohibit them or price them prohibitively high. They seem like an easy way to increase revenue.

Here in NC, it's $30.00/yr for a personalized plate or between $10-$30/yr for a 'specialized' plate.

In Michigan here renewing such plates is cheaper than getting them originally. In addition to the normal plate fees for whichever type of vehicle you drive, it is 35$ for a special plate (fundraiser plates for universities or certain causes) and then 10$ every year after. For a personalized plate it is 30$ for the first year (at a rate of 8$ for first month + 2$ every month after that plate is valid if you get it partway through a year) and then 15$ for every year after.

Santa, LOL, there is more than enough VANITY in Germany... but as to CAR TAGS / LICENSE PLATES sadly not... though you can get a funny combination, e.g. let's say you live in Ludwigshafen (LU) you could opt to get a two letter combination of ST and the number 46 (if that is not taken), or the city might be Stuttgart (S), then you might take EX and 66 as numbers (pronounciation of six in German is exactly the same as sex)...

though there are certain restrictions, any appreviation that has to do with the Nazi past (e.g. NS, HJ, etc.) are strictly forbidden... see: Prohibited combinations

Here in Saskatchewan, Canada vanity plates are $75.00 + Taxes (Only need a Rear Plate in SK - used to be $95 for both front & back) to receive the Vanity Plate (if available), then your regular vehicle registration fee for every year there after....

In my case, around $1,300 a year...
and I get a discount for a good driving record.
~sighs~

MCuthill - $1300 a year for vehicle registration? Damn!

I saw this today on a beautiful new Jaguar as it left a martial arts training academy: DOJOJODY

I reckon Jody owns the place. Looks like business is kicking ass, so to speak.

I saw this one on a red convertible while on 540 in Raleigh, North Carolina last night: *NIX/DEV. Red Hat, maybe?

Hi,
Today I saw an odd one for an Arizona resident:

H8SHEAT
( Maybe just someone who does not like Miami NBA basketball!)

I think that makes perfect sense for an Arizona resident who hates the Arizona desert heat.

Hi,
Likely the case ( as an Arizona resident who doesn't mind it, I just thought it funny...)

BTW, There was a concert scheduled here ( Phoenix area) with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and others but it got cancelled because they feared it would be too hot - Were they surprised that Arizona in late August would be hot [wink]- )
