There is no more CD you can buy!
It is now one DVD with most apps on it.
It even has a new product code :)

Has anyone managed to get Distributed VM working yet? I know they say it's not supported but I'm aware that Avaya have it working on the "old" 6.0.16. I can't seem to get the wav files transferred to the Centralized VM.

Did not try it yet because they told me (in the email) that it does not work yet :)

The email says it's not supported yet but I have been advised by Avaya that it should work on 6.0.16. Just upgrading to 6.0.22 so we'll see if it's any better. The new email says they are running extended field trials for this so I'd imagine they have it at least "working"!

How bout Contact Store on Avaya IPO R6? Any chance of better enhancements, like a wiser way to back up calls?

I am waiting on the distributed voicemail with baited breath. I hope it works as advertised in the R6 docs.

Avaya have a few teething issues with Distributed VM which haven't made it into the last GA RC. There should be another release in the next couple of weeks which will address these problems.

I'm still struggling to get the SMTP traffic flowing between the 2 VM's. Checked that SMTP works between the two servers but still no go. So I have a VM sitting on the Disti VM that needs to be on the Centralized one. Annoying.

lol :) On a diferent more disturbing note, has anyone seen the price of the Avaya IP endpoint licence? it's £50/$75 each or £740/$1245 for 20.... that is unbelievable just to use an Avaya set, that will be a cost of £3700 on top of the handsets for a 100 user system as oppose to the £1200 it would cost for 20 channels on the VCM that would cover the same size site. Thanks Avaya ....I think that may be the final straw for my Boss to now go elsewhere [curse]

interesting you mention that, I had a talk about that this morning and said that Avaya noticed that not every phone needs a dedicated VCM channel and so they gave the VCM channels free and now charge for IP endpoints.
I have not made the comparison in dollars and cents with a concrete number of users but you also get free IP endpoints along with the VCM card (12 if I remember correctly for the VCM 32) so you save some there.

Also not being able any more to user virtual ip extensions when you do not have a spare ip license.

They should have made those licenses much cheaper.

Either way Westi it will cost you more than double what it used to, add the price increase on hardware that is due and now the IP office isn't even close to being competitive, the salesman had to discount quite a lot before to get the deal now they would need to make a loss to compete. tlpeter I think the virtual users will continue to operate it's only when you connect a physical phone that the licence is required otherwise as you say the system is becoming a joke :)

Let's not forget - Avaya now wants you to sell Avaya Global services and subscriptions. What a great business model to put us all out of a job. The exact business model that stopped us from selling Cisco. IDIOTS.

service for big bucks.
I can not imaging that some one is going to do that.

IPOfficeGuru, funny you should say that because when our Avaya account Manager came to visit I asked him why they are pushing SSU etc on the IP Office and all he could come up with to justify it is "Well that's what Cisco do" ....yes but you are not Cisco you're Avaya you are beating them because you don't do it that way....."Yes but Cisco"....shut the Fu** up about Cisco and just admit you are money grabbing :)

I think the Virtual still would work, if you check the below from the manual. In my opinion it even looks like you could have a 100 users sharing 30 ip endpoint licences if the rest is not used at the same time. Also how about Hot Desk users do you need 2 then?

· Reserve Avaya IP Endpoint License: Software level = 6.0+.
For IP Office Release 6, Avaya IP phones require an Avaya IP Endpoint license in order to register with the IP Office. Normally licenses are issued in the order that devices register. This option allows this extension to be pre-licensed before the device has registered.

· Reserve 3rd Party IP Endpoint License: Software level = 6.0+.
For IP Office Release 6, non-Avaya IP phones require an 3rd Party IP Endpoint license in order to register with the IP Office. Normally licenses are issued in the order that devices register. This option allows this extension to be pre-licensed before the device has registered.

to my understanding, you could only have 100 users sharing 30 licenses, if there were only 30 phones plugged in at any one time. It reads as though as soon as a handset registers, it eats a license, even if no one is logged in?

I guess my real problem with Avaya is that most companies look to find a way of reducing the cost of equipment while maintaining or improving the functionality, quality and reliabilty in order to give the customer good value for money and keep them coming back, Avaya want to sell you lower and lower quality kit while steadily increasing functionality but raising what you pay for it at every given opportunity and raisng it quite considerably too :-(
