Since you MAIers are all so incredibly creative, I thought I would continue to tap into those creative juices (or whatever fluid floats your boat) and see who can come up with the best name for my new business.

Basically, I go to client's homes and inventory all their stuff. I take digital pictures of everything from their TV to hand towels (if they want). I then put their information (scanning receipts, purchase dates, serial numbers, models, et cetera) into my software. Next, I create a CD/DVD with a copy of all their information and photos.

My service objective is that clients can use the info in the event their home is destroyed by fire or other disaster (e.g. Katrina/Rita), or if they are robbed, for insurance-coverage issues, tax issues, or the like.

If you have more questions or if you need more information let me know. I am really looking forward seeing your suggestions for the company name. Thanks!!

Aaaahllrighteeee then...Ready, set, goooooooo!!
or for our good British friends...Ready, steady, go!

Thanks,

Hey now, Pampers. Be nice! I am an honest person and I would never commit a crime like that.

I love all these ideas!! You all are amazing!

Thanks,
Mini

P.S. Dr. Joe, sorry for your loss.

I've been trying for something along the lines of SCAN -
Secure Confidential Analysis N.... but I can't think of an appropriate word beginning with N.

SCAM - Secure Confidential Analysis Magic doesn't sound quite right.

Course you could always just have a set of letters that don't actually mean anything - seem to be lots of firms that do that and they can be quite successful "AArdVAAk 9XT Global Protection & Deterrence Services"

Good Luck with your enterprise - sounds like a good idea to me.

I like SamBones' 'PICsurance' but I am thinking that MM would be treading on sticky territory by implying that his business provides some kind of insurance.

His business is not to protect nor replace stolen/missing/destroyed items, but merely to warehouse a catalog of those items to make the item-owner's job of replacing them (with the aid of the real insurance company) if need-be.

However... MM could perhaps get AllState (for the sake of illustration) to partner with him and then AllState would promote his business as something people could buy when they sign up for homeowner's insurance with them: "Now offering PICsurance". Sure, profits get split with AllState, but the company automatically goes nation-wide and is offered to an enormous client base!

Hmmm...

I agree with the comments that you should keep the name serious rather than going for a cute pun or spelling the company name incorrectly (e.g. Kathy's Kreative Kakes). Oh, how I hate misspelled company names.

Something like CCC - Creative Custom Cataloging might be easy to remember while not seeming too cutesy.

Good luck with your venture!

p.s. I like something along the lines of Proof Positive, too.

You never want to have the word "Disaster" in your company name. It sets you up for too many jokes!

How about "I Take Pictures of Your Things Then Steal Them For Insurance Fraud"?

It would be very embarrassing explaining about a fake company to the police.
- "Yes, to take photos."
- "And you showed them all your good stuff?"
- "er, yes"
- "And where you kept it?"

So maybe Police Approved ..., or Insurance Approved ...
or Bank Approved ...( Endorse might be better:

MiniMufasa, out of curiosity how much would a service like this cost the typical homeowner? Also do you offer any other services while the customer is in the being responsible zone such as legal form templates such as these, life insurance referrals, tips for college savings etc?

Two strings walk into a bar. The first string says to the bartender: 'Bartender, I'll have a beer. u.5n$x5t?*&4ru!2[sACC~ErJ'. The second string says: 'Pardon my friend, he isn't NULL terminated'.

FYI Photo Identification

FYI is an acronym for "For Your Information", which could be used to make a clever motto. It also lends itself to nice logo creation, for example, making the "i" lowercase, the dot being an eyeball?

Keeping an "eye" on your information... something like that.

You know, MM, for an additional fee, you can offer annual updates or signed verifications that the current inventory is still correct. In an actual loss situation, the longer it's been since the inventory was taken, the more an insurance agency might balk at using the pictures as evidence of property owned.

'just thinking out loud...

OK, I am officially addicted. Now I know why my Dad is permanently logged on to Tek-tips! You guys are a riot! Your suggestions are fantastic! I really appreciate your business suggestions, as well.

DrJoe - To address your questions, pricing sort of depends on how much "crap" we have to "snap" and how detailed they want us to get. We were thinking a 2,000 square foot house, 7 rooms, average amount of "crap" would run about $475.00 (ballpark).

And to address the fraud issues, in addition to the fact that I am an honest person, I am bonded and insured. I hope that helps to ease minds.

Thanks again for all your good ideas!
