Since you MAIers are all so incredibly creative, I thought I would continue to tap into those creative juices (or whatever fluid floats your boat) and see who can come up with the best name for my new business.

Basically, I go to client's homes and inventory all their stuff. I take digital pictures of everything from their TV to hand towels (if they want). I then put their information (scanning receipts, purchase dates, serial numbers, models, et cetera) into my software. Next, I create a CD/DVD with a copy of all their information and photos.

My service objective is that clients can use the info in the event their home is destroyed by fire or other disaster (e.g. Katrina/Rita), or if they are robbed, for insurance-coverage issues, tax issues, or the like.

If you have more questions or if you need more information let me know. I am really looking forward seeing your suggestions for the company name. Thanks!!

Aaaahllrighteeee then...Ready, set, goooooooo!!
or for our good British friends...Ready, steady, go!

Thanks,

MiniMufasa

Fair enough!

I'm always one who, when I point out a "problem" or flaw or something, I try to offer up something as a replacement or a fix. The "gauntlet" was merely a challenge for you to come up with something.

As I later posted, however, you are right about that list of names (including one I proffered up).

Just having fun!

I should have addressed that last comment to Chacalinc. Pardon.

oh. I see it, I didn't understand that... (different cultures may be? hehehe)

Cheers.

When choosing a company name, you have to imagine how it comes off when you say it, answering the telephone.

I second it.

Can you imagine picking up the phone and saying: "Your Stuff -- None of My Business! Hello!"

What about being on the other side of the conversation?
Dialing it by mistake?

How about BVD's

The slogan could be "Covering your assets...."

I also liked Dr.java Joe's Homeowner Inventory Specialists

Now that I think about it, it's probably more universally a challenge to fight, but obviously that's not how I meant it.

But back to the topic at hand...

On that thought when people are in the process of doing this they are likely also in the process of estate planning, buying life insurance, planning for college savings etc, they are in the being responsible zone. So they would most likely be looking for a professional type company name.

My 2 cents.

Two strings walk into a bar. The first string says to the bartender: 'Bartender, I'll have a beer. u.5n$x5t?*&4ru!2[sACC~ErJ'. The second string says: 'Pardon my friend, he isn't NULL terminated'.

Now imagine they are calling because their house has burnt down and they need to get ahold of their list and someone answers the phone with a bad pun. 'not exactly what some grief-stricken former home-owner wants to hear.

For a business like this, professional-sounding would be better.

2 more cents.

I liked DrJavaJoe's ideas, specially:

HIS - Homeowner Inventory Specialists

it sounds as current *big* companies as IBM (International Business Machine), EMC, HDS (Hitachi data System), GIC (Global International Consulting), et cetera.

Cheers.

I was thinking about a combination of Bo9 and DrJavaJoe's responses:

Proof Positive Home Inventory Specialists

But she said this is a service for businesses too!

"Inventory Specialists" sort of makes me think of those folks who roam around in the stores counting boxes of cereal...

Proof Positive Asset Recording

Yes, and Proof Positive Inventory Specialists has an unfortunate sounding acronym!

hmmmm... but this is a service... so I would replace Specialists for Services

HIS - Home Inventory Service

And the slogan "Pix of Yours/Peace of Mind" (from LookingforInfo)

So (imagine the logo):
HIS - Home Inventory Service
"Pix of Yours/Peace of Mind"

Cheers.

Thanks for getting my slogan in there!

Since it's for businesses, too, perhaps:

GIS - General Inventory Services

Then, naturally, my slogan! :)

I didn't see the BJCooperIT's post before posting... so what's about:

BIS - Building Inventory Service?

(Building?? what word could be a generic name for an office, home or company building)

Too sinister?

Particular with the "IRS" connection! Probably not a popular acronym for a business!

Inventory Documentation Services"

Ahhhhhhh feel better?
