A spin on the best Sitcoms thread...what are the best sektches or lines you know..

Amongst them has to be the lines from Blackadder goes forth.

Scene:
Blackadder is facing a courtmarshall. He's dim, side kick is called as a witness.
Goes along the lines of:

Blackadder, pulls Baldrick to oneside "Baldrick, deny everything"
"Are you Private Baldrick"
"No!"

"But you are Captain Blackadder's batman?"
"No."
"Oh, come on, Baldrick -- be a bit more helpful, it's me."
"No, it isn't."

Only the truly stupid believe they know everything.

Wrong place for it of course, but I'll add my endorsement to PERL. Of the dozen or so languages I've programmed in, it is by far my favorite. As I like to say, "It works the way I think." I never have to try hard to convert my logic into the syntax of the language, it just naturally translates. I wish I were still using it, instead of VBScript.

IIRC, that was a definitive requirement of Larry Wall, himself being a linguist wanted a programming language that reflected a language per se.

Spitting Image....good heavens, I'd forgotten about that.

One of the funniest scenes I remember was the Queen stamping the thousands of Christmas cards they have to send. She was inking her face and slamming it down on the envelopes. To get an impression. To save money...for stamps....hmmmmm. I suppose it isn't very funny for those in countries that did not have the queen's face on all their stamps.

WTF did that Perl Commercial have to do with this thread?

Sheesh.....

Just my 2¢

Perl's not Commercial, well, not really :p

Someone mentioned Tim Conway, and I read Damian Conway, my bad :-(

Sorry for the PERL digression. We've never had a thread go off on a tangent before, so I understand that it was more than a little disconcerting.

Watched "Only Fools and Horses", the episode about the John Harrison Lesser Watch.

The line about the sandwiches where 'Del boy' offers to buy them because Rodney bought the 'Rolls' still cracks me up, a joke with a 2 hour setup, now that's timing

I quite liked the joke from the previous episode where Trigger wins an environmental award because he's used the same broom for 20 years. When challenged over how he could possibly use the same broom for that length of time, he responds that he has had to replace the shank 4 times and the brush 8 times.
