It is internal fastEthernet ports w/2 2T WIC cards. I must confirm w/the suggestion to use old IOS to get interfaces back. There may be an issue w/the ISO and 2621XM router and will search cisco documentation today. Thanks.
I uploaded my IOS and did a reload. You can see the new IOS, no problems but the interfaces are gone. I have a 2621XM router running 12.1. I even have a link light on the f0/0 not that it really matters.
Can you copy the running IOS from a router in the field? Here is my problem. I have 12.1 (15) (on my tftp server) and in the field I have 12.1 (5). Of course I don't have the software to that one.
thanks Abdel that's exactly what I am doing. I got stuck working something else yesterday and I am reconfiguring the router now. I will repost if it doesn't work.
I just got some new routers that have 12.2 (8r) as the version. I need to change it to 12.1 (c2600-ik2s-mz.121-15.bin) since it has been tested and approved for my network. This will also install crypto on my routers (2621XM). I TFTP them and do a reload yet the version never changes. What...
I have stacks of them w/the boot.68k missing and I have been told by vendors that repair them that they would not touch them. So they sit and grow dust on them. But I do know how to break in w/out the passwords.

I have the admin passwords but some of my field netbuilder 3com router's user passwords are not known to me. Shouldn't there be away w/out having to be on site to bypass and change the user passwords?

2. Set User Privilege Password

thx for the feedback, I was stuck in rommon prompt. I was able to see the two files in dir flash: but the only thing I could do was confreg and then the number that was there. Will lets just say since I couldn't do a copy and ftp/tftp the system is now hosed. I could never get it to the #...
ok I have the answer to my own question:
entering 3com router from side door:
w/a slender, blunt object, depress the reset switch located just forward of the DIP switches. This will change the prompt to > then type BT A:/PRIMARY/BOOT.68K A:/NEWPW
hit enter
The system reboots and does not load...
you need to NAT, you give your router the primary address that you receive from your provider and then use internal IPs for your computers. I know w/my provider you have to also make the router have the MAC address too. I use a linksys router for that.
I just started a new job and use 3com routers instead of Cisco's. I am trying to setup the router and change the passwords. It keeps telling me to log in or that I have the password incorrect (I am logged in and confirmed that). The login is admin and password is enter. How do I change that????
