    NT4 DC's & NB 6.51

I'm pretty sure the NBU client is not compatible with NT4. I was looking to backup an old NT4 box and I read somewhere that NBU client 6.5 only works with Win2k and greater. Sorry, I don't recall where I read that.

    Problem with expired tapes

What is the media status of the tapes in the scratch pool? If you don't see the Media Status column right-click on the column headers and go to Columns, Layout. Find Media Status and click the icon on the top to Show. Then the Media Status column will show. Check to see if the tapes are...

Send backup jobs to 2 different media servers

Thanks for your replies. I'm going to try just sending the backup jobs offsite.

Partially full media setting in NBU 6.5

Hi All, With regard to the Volume Pools in NBU 6.5, does anyone have a good definition for the 'Maximum number of partially full media' setting? The default value for this setting is zero, which suggests that there will never be a tape that's partially full. Yet there will always be a...

Send backup jobs to 2 different media servers

Thanks, Stumpr. That makes sense. I also figured out how to duplicate backup images which may also work for me.

Send backup jobs to 2 different media servers

I have media servers in 4 different locations in my org. Rather than physically moving backup tapes offsite I'd like to send copies of jobs to tape devices connected to offsite media servers. However, the documentation says that you can only send copies to devices connected to the same media...

    800 GB tapes and images

I use the same tapes in my shop. I average about 550gb per tape. Sometimes I get more but not very often. I think HP likes to advertise the tapes' compressed data capacity rather than their native capacity and we rarely get compression that good.

    Server-based restores

    That was the one. Thanks!

    Server-based restores

This seems like a silly question but I'm fairly new with Netbackup and the answer has eluded me. I'm using Netbackup 6.5 in a Wintel environment and I can't figure out how to do restores from the NBU master server. Restores seem to be mostly client-based. If I have to do a restore to a remote...

Installing Windows 2003 on NetFinity 5000

Ahh, I'm trying to remember. I have some documentation that I put together while I was planning the upgrade. I noted to load the raid controller drivers during the o/s load. Then load the controller bios and firmware. Download the ServeRaid 6.10 file from the IBM website. It's huge...

Installing Windows 2003 on NetFinity 5000

Went good. I upgraded my controller bios, firmware, and ServeRaid Manager to 6.10 and everything went fine. It's humming along smoothly as an intranet server.

Installing Windows 2003 on NetFinity 5000

Has anyone tried installing Windows Server 2003 on a NetFinity 5000? I've read that it's not a supported install but I wonder if anyone has had any success doing it. Thanks, Steve
