you should also be able to go to the hard drive manufacture web site and download a hard drive overlay then you should be able to install the overlay and use the hard drive as one large drive

i installet netscape which i dont like and completly uninstalled internet explorer rebooted and re installed explorer then when it was running again i uninstalled netscape
if you decide to reformat and reinstall winme. first make sure you have a boot disk.
if not go to control panel and add and remove programs. make a startup disk.

are you connected through a hub or how. our provider here will only allow a single ip adress. so i either have to assign a subnet mask. or run through a hub ect. or drop the ip adress on one computer and pick it up on the other one.
i asume your zip drive is an internal ide drive. some had a jumper to assign drive letters. if not the 3.5 floppy should have try to set one to a drive b:
i have a nec laptop and it came without a cd. i got a backpack cd 4x parrellel port unit very cheap. just connects to the printer port and installs with a diskette. and i was away.i think i payed 10.00 for it.

i looked at a couple of computers doing about the same thing in these cases they had litterly dozens of programs loading and running in the startup window. so many things to look for. 128 meg of ram is that shared ram. like is 32 meg used for video.

sounds strange but if he has a usb port on the laptoptry to plug the usb into that. some systems do have a built in modem built in and the signal is sent out through the usb port, so its made to plug right into the computer.
i have worked on a system like that once.
well i went and bought a 16 bit pcmcia ehternet card, and was able to install the driver from the diskette. went to windows update and got a message my browser was to old to connect to microsoft update. so i went to internet explorer and updated my browser to the newest.
and now my hard drive...
