Hi. I'm at quite a loss here and I'm hoping someone out there can help. I'm having an issue with a computer here with Windows ME. It seems that the user somehow renamed the C: Drive from "Local Disk" to "New Folder" while playing around with adding new folders into the C: Drive. When I tried to simply rename the folder (either by right-clicking or by going to File:Rename) I got a message saying "Cannot set the volume label (Local Disk). Access is denied."
Can anyone tell me how I can change the name back for him? I'm really not experienced on ME and all it does is cause me problems. Please be descriptive in your response. I can handle fixing things on computers but I'm not as familiar with technical terms as I should be.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Gherkina:

If I'm reading you right, the drive now says C:New Folder?

If so open Windows Explorer, right click on C:drive, choose 'Properties' and on the 'general tab' you should be able to set the volume label.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have already tried changing the name through the properties by right-clicking on the drive from explorer and it gave me the same error message.

Any other ways I could change it?

might work. but go to start and programs and look for the dos prompt and try rename c:new folder c:(new name)
