    L3 interface on 6509?

You need to ensure you have enough memeory available for your upgrade too, we had to upgrade to 24 mb of flash and 128 Mb DRAM on our Sup1A - MSFC2's. Also, Andy, have you the URL for the conversion tool, I cant find it. Thanks The only reason some people are still alive, is simply because...

    chaining switches

I might be being silly, but did you use a XOVR cable for the uplink from FE to FE? The only reason some people are still alive, is simply because it's illegal to kill them!! ;0)

Cisco Aironet 1300 - want to connect 2 buildings

WEP is extremely vulnerable, it takes less than a million packets to reverse engineer/decrypt it. It'll work fine till someone hacks it. The only reason some people are still alive, is simply because it's illegal to kill them!! ;0)

Cisco 3560 with Nortel VoIP I2004 Phones

Hi, Any reason why you dont want to use your DHCP server to issue both scopes? We do this, just add in the relevant scope options for the Nortel phones (we use MITEL) and it's all quite happy. The only reason some people are still alive, is simply because it's illegal to kill them!! ;0)

    Blinking amber light on 3524

I've had this also, we have on occasion had to configure the vlan on the switch itself, especially if VTP domain isnt configured. If your VTP domain is configures correctly, set your switch to VTP CLIENT mode: Switch(config)#vtp mode client If not, you need to define and configure a VTP...

Help & suggestions for setting up VLAN

Assuming you have created a VLAN20 interface on the RSM of the 4006, you would just need to put your routes in to your d/g and point the next hop to your 4006, as VLAN20 is directly connected to your 4006 traffic will be directed on to your new vlan. Hope this is okay, I'm more used to 6509's...

Cant ping printers on VLAN'd subnet!!??

Tracert'ing to a printer gets as far as the vlan1 address of the MSFC of the core site the remote site hangs off (2 hops) traceing the site server hits in 3 hops (ie 10.133.104.2 {remote vlan} - server - 3 hops, 10.133.104.28 - printer - 2 hops {msfc} then bombs out. From the site server/client...

Cisco Aironet 1300 - want to connect 2 buildings

Have any of you tried to use two 1232 to bridge 2 sites 100m apart. I specc'd out for 3 1300's, 2 Yaggi's lightning arrestors etc, but, as we all know, project admin clerks know far more than us pleb techies, so decided to buy AP's instead "coz they're better aren't they? And we can run twice as...

Cisco 2950 Diff between Green and Orange LED?

You might also want to check your speed and duplex settings, sometimes if the port is left on auto, it wont negotiate correctly, forcingf the port to the correct speed/duplex will stop it from flapping. Hope this helps Colin

Configuring SSH on Cisco IOS switches.

I want to configure SSH on all our switches and routers (Cats with CATOS and PIX too if anyone knows how). We're using SSH Secure Shell Client on laptops and want to administer the switches by telnet. A quick look at Cisco hasnt revealed much, I know it'll be there but thought you might be...

Cisco 3550 Switches - shoving traffic from certain ports

OK so you have vlan's currently? you'll need suitable distribution switches to configure and route your vlans on. Do you want to issue DHCP on your risky vlan or assign static ip's? You'll need to ensure your vtp domain name and password are configured, we run our switches as vtp servers...
