I know this may be slightly off topic but i guessed that the switch experts would be more likely engineers ect and may know this...
I need to document our network and want to know if anyone has suggestions for cheap diagramming software...

If you want a 'free' auto discovery type software, try SMPPC from Castlerock, you can get a trial version. If you want to diagrammatically represent you network, use visio, you can get all the Cisco templates from the cisco site.
