why dont you install the OS on the drive as a slave as long as there isnt a hd on the primary master is shouldnt make any problems, once you are finished you can put the first disk back, either as a secondary m/s or even as the primary master but have you bios boot you into the second hdd

i am trying to save data off a hdd that has clearly some phisical damage to it. It can start loading the os, so it can be read but cannot ever finish the loading. I have tryed getting an adapter to slave it onto my desk top but could not get one. i read some time ago on this forum of a program...

the freezer doesnt work if the bios womt even recognize the hdd, it only works for internal disks that have jamed. have you tryed slaving it onto a desktop with a hdd adaptor?

have you tried using the "repair" function on the xp cd if you do boot into the cd and press enter to setup xp and only after windows finds the xp installed use the option to repair

do you have a logitech mouse and roxio cd writer program? if yes that may be the problem, check ms database

if you had a cwriter program tha you uninstaled that is a common couse for your problem, look up on the microsoft knowlagebase whic lne to delete in the reg. anmd everything should be ok hugh
