neoadmin,
It varies from server to server, my exchange database runs at about 1.25 GB/min on a GB Ethernet, what they have posted on their site is what it peaks at. The system files will backup in the 300 MB/min range but over all beats tape, since I still have a DLT autoloader for some old...
The cost of tape backup is cheap initially, but is more costly in the long run and it is hidden in terms of the maintenance tape requires in terms of cleaning tape head, re-tensioning and putting one in an embaracing situation not being able to recover from it. V2i is good but check out...
Brett,
I have been using Idealstor, ejectable disk to disk backup appliance for over a year now and not had a failed drive. They provide the caddy with a protective storage box, I send my disk offsite every day and not had any problems.
Sorry guys I have not checked the site for some time. FredUG I have the 4 bay appliance it cost $10995. It gives me 4 drives(300GB each, I do not use compression) that I can backup to at the same time, better than buying LTO at $ 7000 for a single drive.
Technome to answer your question. It is...
It has been a while since I worked with Live Vault and I hope what I tell you is going to help you out. It is true that that they dont sell the software anymore and only provide online backup, using the product. Go to removable storage, then to the physical device and disable the library there...
Also make sure that the card is the right card. The drive could be a HVD, LVD or SE. You will have to make sure that you have the correct card or you could damage your system.
Use Acronis to Backup to disk first then to tape. This way you will have data almost nearline. I have a combination of BE9.0 and Acronis working together for my backups. Acronis is not to fast but the snapshot is good. I dont even use tape, got a backup appliance from Idealstor, lets me use...
PGPhantom,
I am looking to setup a dedicated backup LAN for backups with netbackup. I checked veritas website and could not find anything. Can you help.
Try erd commander. Boot up from the CD and restore the system files that are missing. It will also fix your registry if there is a problem. Call them and ask to see if they will send you an eval or maybe you can download it.
Good luck.
Neoadmin, check out this backup appliance called Idealstor, we have been using it with BE9 for the last 4 months and it works great. It replaces tapes completely. This takes away the two step process with Disk to disk to tape. Idealstor lets you eject the disk for offsite storage and keep on the...
You will need to upgrade your PDC to windows 2003 or 2000 and install active directory , you cant join a NT 4 domain. Make sure you put in a BDC before you do that, so incase there is a problem you and bring the BDC and promote it to a PDC so that you can keep your existing domain functional.
Protos, I would look at the idealstor backup appliance which lets you use disk like tape so that they can be taken off site or kept on the shelf. It comes with license of Acronis True Image which is a great snapshot backup software. The only drawback is that it will only snapshot NT4 and windows...
MajorT, I would check Acronis trueimage from www.acronis.com. Works similar to V2i, but is more steady in terms of working with other filter level drivers.
