Determining switch duplex setting from DOS

Is there a way via a DOS utility to interogate a switch port (Cisco I think) to see what it is set at? I want to know from DOS if a port is set to 100MB full duplex or 10/half etc. Thankyou, John Bradshaw

    SMS & Ghost problems

I've been told that if I make a Ghost image of an NT4 machine which has SMS packages on it, then any updates of the SMS packages will not be applied to the second Ghosted machine. This is because SMS keeps identifiers as to which machines it has downloaded to and the second PC, being a Ghost...

System Process - Low on Registry Quota

Just a query to make sure you are looking at the Registry Quota window under the Virtual Memory window..... You need to change the registry QUOTA under the Properties of the System, not the Virtual Memory amount. The registry quota will probably be set to 16MB or something...change it to...

    Account Operators

I have made a couple of "helpdesk" people part of the 'Account Operators' group for the domain, so they can reset user's passwords. But I can't figure out how they are supposed to access the UserManager program for the domain. I wrote a batch file for them to run usermgr on the BDC...

    Data recovery software for free?

There is a cheap way to do this. ...briefly: Install a 2nd copy of NT to your PC or server (under winnt2). Boot to the second copy. Do an NT backup of all drives (This of course means the 1st copy of NT is fully closed) Shutdown the server/PC Install a copy of NT to your recovery box (under say...

    Domain synchronize...

One aspect..... When you have two Domain controllers (Primary & Backup), one can be off line and the users can still be authenticated to log on to the LAN. The user accts are synchronised via this function. If you only had a Primary DC and lost it, then you would have to add all your PC's back...

Trying to find an easy way to connect users over 2 LANS

to connect a drive say x: use this in a batch file: net use X: \\server\share /user:userid password eg net use x: \\E123S01\d$ /user:E123\administrator pword12 as long as you don't change the password for the user in the script, it will continue to connect....You could set up a dummy user &...

    When to use Citrix

Thanks for the considered input. Much appreciated. The 16 bit apps are not available as 32bit, but I think it may be a matter of putting as many as we can on Citrix and leaving the rest as normal client-server, with alternative DR for those left-over boxes. Can anyone suggest how long a...

    When to use Citrix

Hi, Looked via the FAQ and couldn't see an answer, so here goes: We have 99 NT servers (Yes 99, not 100) and a few Novell (3.12) servers running old and new apps. The apps connect to mainframe d/bases, Unix, SQL, etc. U name it, we got it, in terms of diversity of apps running. We have imaging...

Xcopy from NT 4.0 Serv. to XP Pro "Backup"

Hi Robin59, You could try using Robocopy from the res kit. I think it is better than xcopy. Also use WINAT from reskit for your scheduling or just the in-built one with XP under ctrl panel as suggested previously. Umm, couldn't you map your drives and use the backup built into XP, to do the...
